I work in Jersey City which is across the river from the World Trade Center. I was listening to a CD so I didn't hear about the tragedy on the news. As I was walking in the building (I enter from the rear) there was a huge crowd gawking out the windows. I looked and saw the North Tower on fire. Oh my God. I didn't know what had happened. I went upstairs and a coworker in the elevator said that a plane had crashed in the building. I was thinking it was small plane. I put my stuff down and went back downstairs. The second plane had just crashed and I saw the huge hole in the building. I met up with a bunch of coworkers and we walked to the river and watched in astonishment. Someone had the radio on and we couldn't believe it. After a half an hour of pure shock, we went back towards work and everyone was hysterical and just wanted to go home. When we heard about the Pentagon, we all dashed for the exits and went home. As I was driving home, I had a good view of the towers. I shook my head in disbelief and asked why on earth would someone do this. Why? All my memories of visiting the towers flooded back to me. That was the last time I will ever see those two towers. I drove west and 1 minute later heard that the one tower collapsed, sure enough when I turned the corner I could see again and it was gone. That's when I went hysterical in my car. A cop who was directing traffic wanted me to pull over and calm down in the fire dept.but I insisted on going home. A few minutes later I saw the other tower for the last time. When I heard on my car radio that the other collapsed I was hysterical. I had just seen them there. Why did this have to happen. I don't even know how I made it home. A prayer goes out to all those families who lost loved ones today. I am petrified right now because when I went back to work to get my stuff a co-worker had called in that he was stuck at the WTC PATH train station. Oh please God I pray that he was evacuated in time. !^%@$#^%$@& Star Wars!!! What about us here. How does Bush's stupid star wars plan help what happened to all of these people today.

We will probably go to war now, and our world as we know it will NEVER be the same.

It's all over the news everywhere, I'm a huge fan of skyscrapers and ironically the world trade center is my current wallpaper, I can't believe it's gone.... My thoughts and prayers are with all of those who have relatives/friends connected and could be in danger. I hope the world learns a lesson from this.....

I believe everyone is in a great deal of shock in the US right now. The WTC was a symbol to all of us. You see it all the time. I can't count the number of times it has appeared in Friends. The NY skyline will never be the same. This event has to be one of the worst non-wartime events ever.

I am sure there will be a war over this as I believe it probably should be....not that the war will solve anything, but not doing anything would be just as bad. I don't believe the Star Wars program would take into account plane hijackings. The first attack on the WTC was at first thought to be an accident.

Lets just all pray that the casualties are a minimum and a large scale war is not required.

I still can't believe all this has happened....to see those towers collapsing was one of the most demoralising things I've ever experienced. Worse still was learning that the very people that had gone in to rescue those engulfed by the flames had been crushed by the falling debris. My thoughts and prayers go out to all people involved....and I pray that the casualties are as small as possible...

I live in Pittsburgh, and I was sitting in French class when the one teacher came in with a memo and made them turn on the television. We didn't do anything in any of my classes but watch the television, and parents were coming every other second to pick up their kids. They even let us out early. Its horrible, and terrifying that people are this evil and heartless. My heart and prayers go out to the victims and their families.

My condolences to all Americans, especially to the friends and family of the victims of this horrendous tradegy.

I cannot bear to think what went on in the heads of those who jumped to their deaths and those that helplessly waved as the buildings caved. This is so so horrible.

I can tell you that others who were nowhere near the states of New York, Pennsylvania, or Washington DC also are feeling very glum today, though we were obviously not in physical danger like those living in Manhattan were, for example.

I am relieved that that NATO has decided to go with the all for one and one for all tactic, unity is the key to stopping anymore terrorism in the US or other parts of the world. I have never been more proud to be an AMerican, I even volunteered to be a volunteer nurse (I work regularly in situations similar to those on ER) and leave my family and 4 yr old daughter, to help those in need in NY. What breaks my heart the most is that there are children my daughter's age that were victims in this. I mean, how do you tell your child that his or her mom, dad, uncle/aunt, grandparent, or best friend will not be coming home, most children my daughter's age do not fully understand the concept of Heaven, let alone, terrorism. WHat kind of world are we going to have to raise our children in? Instead of bedtime stories, will we now have to include a lesson on ways to prevent and secure yourself against terrorist attacks in our own backyard? I pay that our world leaders find a way to secure our planet for our generation, and for future generations to come!

PS I am also a HUGE FRIENDS fan, but in light of recent events, I agree that we should postpone the season premiere. I do not think it is appropriate to be concerned with whether or not a TV show will be aired, when they are still looking for the remains of the victims and placing them into body bags! That is just my opinion, others may disagree.
