. . . who can't believe how insensitive some of the "Friends" core group can be? Now, I'll admit, Joey's my favorite, so this view may be slanted, but I was just rewatching the season finale from last year and the premier from this year. Consider:
Here you have all of them at the hospital in various places, waiting for the baby or cooing over the baby or whatever. If you can believe what Phoebe, Monica, and Chandler say, they *know* about Joey's feelings for Rachel, even if they also know that she rejected him. So what do they do in the waiting room? Go on and on about how Ross and Rachel should be together - right in front of him. Seems that would be really painful for him and injurious to his feelings. Yet they don't care, or even think twice. I'd really love to see the writers have him comment on this, but I doubt they will. Joey is, if nothing else, a good friend who doesn't want to rock the boat.
Sometimes I think that some of the other characters are written as mistaking Joey's less-than-stellar intellect as also his being void of feelings. Makes me wonder why he doesn't get new friends! LOL
