I think they are going to have to improve a little bit in order to continue to beat Survivor. I thought 801 was superb, I thought 802 was a little flat, I thought 803 was strong but not stunning. Survivor is a pretty strong show (even though I personally don't like it), and I think that "Friends" needs to put on a very good show every week, if they are going to continue to walk over Survivor. The suspense of waiting for the special occurrence on 803 had to have helped, but now I think all that is over with and they are just going to have to rely on just putting on a superior production every week. Even an inferior "Friends" is better than almost anything else, but it will take superior "Friends" to win the timeslot.

I think Survivor has lost its magic touch. It'll still be popular, but I don't see it crushing Friends like it did last season.

I think that's true, all right. Friends will stand up to it OK no matter what, but I think if they make consistently excellent shows they should beat it consistently. And if they make consistently excellent shows, I'll enjoy watching the show even more.
