I agree completely with relation to his professional side, but didn't you think the way he dealt with his failure to get Ally to go out with him was reminiscent of the early Chandler?

You know, the more I think about it, I think the situation was like one the early Chandler would have been in--meaning he was struggling to get the date--but the characterization was different. Still a failure at it, but a different guy nonetheless.

And Chandler he was not. His character was too smug and arrogant. It was an interesting change, he and Calista had good chemistry, and he did a good job.
