Normally, I love supersize episodes and I love flashback episodes. That was not the case with this episode. First of all, it just seemed too long. I've never felt that way about supersize episodes, I'm usually left wanting more. But there was a lot that didn't work and it just seemed to drag on and on. The least entertaining stories were the Pyramid one and the stripper one. I'm guessing those are the ones that will get some serious trimming when prepped for syndication. Let's start with the stripper portion. Continuing their tradition of ignoring character history in favor of plot, the writers have Monica and Rachel thinking Phoebe wouldn't like a stripper. Have they just met her? Phoebe has always been the free spirit, the more sexually adventurous one. What was it about her that would make them think she'd prefer a tea party over a semi-naked man? Didn't Monica have a stripper at hers? We know that Phoebe was there and I doubt she objected to it. Sloppy writing again. Also, having DeVito there as a special guest star wasn't much of a big deal. After having Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts there, they kind of blew their load. They'd have to get a Tom Cruise or a Mel Gibson to make "special celeb" shows fun again. It's a moot point since the show is done, though.
Now for the Pyramid segment. Again the writers have Joey talking like he's functionally retarded. He's supposed to be naive and not well read, but c'mon ....a ghost as something you'd find in a refrigerator?
As for the flashback, so disappointing. They set the bar high with all the previous ones, and with this being the last one, I expected greatness. Instead, it offered some new information, but most of the jokes were recycled: Fat Monica dancing, FatMon chasing after food, Chandler's FoS hair, Rachel's nose, Rachel being called "slutty". I did love learning about Mon's first kiss, though. Classic!
