CBS Schedules New CSI Opposite Friends Finale

CBS has scheduled a new episode of its top-rated show CSI: Crime Scene Investigation to air opposite the hour-long season finale of Friends on Thursday, May 6, at 9:00 Eastern. Though Friends will still get a huge audience, I wouldn't be surprised if CSI is still able to pick up 15 million viewers or more. Of these, probably at least 10 million would otherwise have watched Friends. In other words, this move on CBS's part may very well end up dropping the audience for the Friends finale by more than 10 million viewers. In addition, a new episode of Survivor: All-Stars will air opposite the hour-long clip show before the Friends finale.

So basically, we should all send CBS hate-mail... >:-|

This will be interesting to see, but my prediction is more people will turn out for the finale than some may expect. Maybe its wishful thinking, but a finale should be much bigger than another shows normal episode.

Also something I found interesting is TVLand's Before They Were 'Friends'... They are airing a black screen saying tune to NBC during the finale. They are also airing 6 episodes containing the Friends cast before the series.

Why? What they do won't prevent you from watching _Friends_. And, it's not like low viewer numbers for the final _Friends_ will hurt it's chances for returning next season...

Why? Is CBS, ABC and Fox just supposed to go dark just because "Friends" is ending? Not everyone on the planet is excited about the final episode, as not everyone is a "Friends" fan, so why shouldn't they have alternate programs to choose from?

CBS has done a wonderful job of making Thursday nights very competitive again after NBC dominated for so long... not since Fox made a charge in the early 90s with "The Simpsons" and "90210" did NBC have such competition on its hands on Thursdays. I think it will be an interesting night of ratings, and its good that the other networks just don't roll over and play dead.

Why those are great shows. I will watch everything. I have a DVR box with my cable system, which is basically like Tivo allows me to record 2 channels at the same time(if I am not home) or watch one show and record another. So I will watch friends, and tape Survivor and CSI, and not miss a thing. Cant help CBS for trying to capture audience also. CSI is usually a top rated show, so what is the problem.
