Flaws

Hi there. My wife and I are big Friends fans from New Zealand, but we've started noticing some flaws across all the different series. Does anyone else have comments on these...or even some explanation?

1. Why has the view out of Monica's apartment changed across the different series? 2. If both Chandler and Ross had been present at the Geller's house for Thanksgiving in the late 80s (as seen in the flashback episode during Series 5), why does Monica have to introduce Chandler to Rachel in the first ever episode? 3. If Rachel had already told Monica that Phoebe had slept with Jason Hurley an hour after he and Monica broke up (as seen in "The One with George Stephanopolous" - Series One), why was Monica shocked when the same revelation was exposed in a later episode (I think it's "The One Where Eddie Moves Out" - Series Two)? 4. If the apartment building on the corner of Grove Street (the one always zoomed into in generic street shots) is SUPPOSED to be the friends' apartment building (I don't know if it is - I'm just assuming it is), why does its construction actually not allow for the balcony / fire-escape landing outside Monica and Rachel's apartment? Someone else once suggested that perhaps that balcony is around the back - but that wouldn't explain how Paolo's clothes are dropped over the FRONT of the building during the first series.

Anyway, these are all little picky things - doesn't make us love the show any less! We'd be interested in anyone's comments.

I've noticed the same things, does anyone have an explaination and it was slightly stupid I suppose to choose an apartement that deosn't fit the set owen

When the pilot was filmed, the fact that Ross and Chandler went to college together hadn't been decided. They decided while filming episode 108 (TOW where Nana Dies Twice) that Chandler and Ross went to college together because it was neat to give them a history. This was stupid because it dosen't correspond with the pilot. However, in 306 (TOW the flashback) Rachel and Chandler didn't know each other either, so that must have been a mistake.

Did that make sense?

In 508 "TOW the Thanksgiving Flashbacks" Rachel virtually snubbed Chandler, (JA made a big point of her character doing this), who of course did *not* join everyone else for the Thanksgiving dinner. A much trickier question concerns 306 "TOW the Flashback", since Rachel fantasised about doing it with Chandler - maybe he was no more than a sex object to her!

It was 219 "TOW Eddie Won't Go". The girls were extremely drunk in 104 "TOW George Stephanopoulos", so Monica didn't remember. Note that the time delay changed from a drunk two hours in 104, to a sober one hour in 219.

Er, nobody could be bothered to fly from LA to NY to do it properly? :-)

You might have asked how Rachel escorted her father to the top of the stairs at the end of 222 "TOW Two Parties", then teleported herself back to Ross to watch Joey kissing her mother. Or Joey's magic toilet bowl in Season 5. Or the scenes in the opening titles which don't match the original episode.

Every episode has a few continuity errors because of the way it's performed & edited, compared with movies (lots of material to choose from), or other TV shows (just one long take switching between four cameras).
