Joey and Rachel

Ok! I was a big supporter of the Ross and Rachel era I am one of those people who waited and waited for Ross and Racehl to get together again. But this season Joey has been the main guy in Racehl's life and I for one do not think that it is a bad thing. They are very cute together. If you combine that with Joey's feelings for her, how protective he is of her, and he overwhelming sense of caring then you have something magnificent. Joey and Rachel could be great together because they are very cute. They are also better for each other than Ross and Rachel becasue Ross is very samrt Joay and Racehl both waitressted and now they have more permanent jobs. I think that it is just a minor set-back that Rachel moves out of Joey's apartment becasue you can tell he is falling in love with her if that is the beginning of the sweeps then most likely Ross and Racehl will not get along and Rachel will leave or that Chandler or somebody will see Joey hurting so much they will let it "slip" that he likes Rachel

On a second issue When R & R broke up for the last time after the Chole incindent I think that that was RAcehl's only choice Ross hurt her and I think that if her truly loved her he would not have done something so stupid. He didn't think about her and that is wrong.

Joey' list of things that her disliked about RAcehl had one thing on it while Ross' had fat ankels, and jsut a waitress which is also wrong becasue I don't think Joey would ever hurt Racehl as Ross did. Also I think Ross just is constantly jealous of Rachel becaseu of a claim that she is his from back when they were going out I don't think he has real feelings anymore. I also think that Ross deserves Mona I hope that Ross and Mona marry because then Rachel will be free to marry Joey and the whole show will not turn into COUPLES. Also Ross cares more about his job then his relationships with girlfriends. He messed up the relationships he has had. Ross should marry Mona she accepts his work. Joey has always been protective of his friends such as when they all were watching "Phobebe" in porn movies Joey wouldn't. That was unbelievebly storng of him . He is growing more matrue. He was willing to marry Rachel so she would not be alone. That was so sweeet. This Joey is not playboy anymore

I remember when I started reading this newsgroup how much controversy there was about TOW Joey dates Rachel and how incredibly cruel that would be to Ross if they got together. Now, after everybody saw that episode, you guys are all "thumbs up" about a possible Joey/Rachel relation. Dont you see that the writers have you liking or rooting for whatever THEY like? Dont get me wrong, I am not saying that none of you out there has an own opinion, it's just that these story writers will take this tri angle relation whereever they want, and I'm sure if they decide to have Ross and Rachel raise the baby as couple then they'll do it in a way that a lot of the people that currently prefer a Joey/Rachel thing happening, will be glad that those two finally worked things out. I personally think that Ross and Rachel arent together as a couple because the actors seem to not like that, maybe they have isssues with each other (I am not buying this "we are all really good friends off set too" stuff), because in the interviews I've read, even those from back when Ross and Rachel were still a couple, they both said, they'd rather have them break up and just be friends. My main complaint about this whole Joey&Rachel thing always was - and still is - that either Joey or Ross is gonna get seriously hurt by this, and I dont want any of the six characters to get hurt so bad... Just thought I'd share these thoughts of mine with you guys

Thats because Ross is an intellectual and he can point more things out from his "head" rather than from his heart. In this case, Joey's heart was getting in the way of Rachel's flaws or whatever. And yes i think it was cruel of Ross to put "just a waitress" but I can see how a paleontologist would feel "different" from a waitress.

It'll be Couples: Chandler & Monica, Joey & Rachel and Ross & Phoebe. Bringing someone new into the mix would be "sitcom suicide" and NBC and Warner Bros. will not do that to the best sitcom that's happened to them since "Cheers" and "Sienfield." ~~ Kathy

No, I don't hate her, i just think that she is treated like a saint by people, mostly you Trigger. I'm defending Ross because I think he has been pounded by the other characters and viewers alike. I really symphatize with the poor fellow( i wish i was british sometimes, lol).

Wait, when did I ever say that I didn't like Ross? I am a huge supporter of R&R!! I want the two of the together. If I didn't like the guy then I wouldn't want any of the FRIENDS to be with him (much less Rachel). I just believe that he didn't do the right thing with the whole Chloe situation!! This is my opinion! :o) P.S. Why are you getting so upset that I am defending Rachel! It IS just a show! And I don't take it as personally. She is my favorite character, so I will bring up the reasons why I like her. That's fine if you don't like her, but you don't have to aim your hostility toward her at me!! I'm not Rachel. No, but you get so upset when people suggest she has, at some time, done something wrong. Anything wrong. It doesn't matter what. I myself find the way she treats Ross alarming; she thinks he's her personal toy to take in and out of storage as she sees fit. This would bother me less if folks called her on it. Folks only aim their hostility at her at you when you shriek at them for criticizing her and insult them personally. I'm still trying to figure out what the "real reason" is, as you said, that *I* criticize her. I thought it was because I don't like watching spoiled brats act as if another person was their own personal lap dog, that's all.

IMO he was with Chloe precisely because he didn't want to think about Rachel at that time. It was too painful. Having been in a similar situation once myself I can completely understand it. In my case I held off though, not because I thought I would be betraying my old girlfriend. She broke up with me. However, I knew I would be betraying a sense of what I still felt for her, and I didn't want to sully that feeling. I thought it would be better to deal with the emotion. After dealing with it I could then move on, which I did.

But a couple years before that . . . Well, that's a story for another day.

Not going to happen this way! R&R have had chance after chance after chance to be together and it never works out -- it never will, either. They are going to share this baby as her parents and good friends, but there will never be a romance for them or anything else.

Ross never cheated on Rachel. She broke up with him. Whatever she intended "a break" to mean, Ross believed that she broke up with him. I believe that she thought they broke up as well. She commented on it with Monica, and then at Ross's apartment she wanted to know if she could be his girlfriend again. That would mean that she wasn't his girlfriend overnight.

Although I strongly believe that Ross did not cheat on Rachel, I do believe he turned his back on his own emotions. That's still pretty bad, but it's his own struggle. It has nothing to do with her.

I think the problem is whether there is potentials Rach loves Ross again. Though Ross dates other girls all the time after the break, he never gave up the hope of being back with Rach. Remember that time Ross turned Rach's sister down, because he was afraid it would be impossible to have Rach again if he was with her sister. But during this long time, Rach never shows feeling to Ross unless everytime Ross is serious to someothers. Seems to me Rach took Ross as "backup". Or say, she won't be with him, but won't let anyone else to have him seriously. It is kinda selfish, I may have to say.

If so, why not let her end with Joey, and let Ross go......

I think that R and R can be together, but not know, that would be 180 degree spin. But if there will be 9th series, then it` posible, simply put: writers would need to make a ground for it, if they would show us slow changes in Ross and Rachel`s relations I don`t think that anyone whould be against it. But if this series is the last one then R&R reletionship would be too fast and artificial

I know what you mean. I kind of like that the two displaced ones after C&M started living together became roomates. First time (if you don't include C&M) I believe they had a boy/girl living together. After that Phoebe stayed with Ross...so possibly they wanted to experiment and see what the audience liked. I liked Rachel and Joey because you still have 4 of the 6 in very close proximity, I guess Ross' apartment being across the hall makes 5 of 6, but still, right across the hall, can't get much closer than that. It's obvious they want to set up a Ross/Rachel story line and having her move in is an interesting plot development, although I see it kind of throwing a wrench into any Joey/Rachel pairing. Clearly it's not going to be reciprocal, and Joey's going to be hurt if he reveals it. I personally don't see him saying anything because he doesn't want to betray Ross' friendship.

On the other hand, maybe this situation will make Joey see how he treated Chandler when he went after Kathy. Joey would be hypocritical to think that way and then go tell Rachel he was in love with her knowing of the possible ramifications. I think Joey will eventually get over this and find his own love interest. They just wanted to set up Joey's transition into being all about sex into him finally beginning to settle down. If the show ends this season, I expect them to do the cheap & easy thing and hook him up with Phoebe.

I thought the words were whiney, but the tone of his voice was not AS whiney as he has been lately. I remember he was getting that whiney tone very strongly a few years ago before Janice pointed out how whiney he sounded. I'm hoping that by having Rachel living with him, he'll get over it.

You know, I find myself often saying things like, "Ross needs to get over it." Will it ever happen? Am I ridiculously hoping for the impossible?

He missed Ben's first spoken word, and now he's beginning to miss out on stuff with this child. I sympathize with him, and I think he deserves to enjoy at least some of these moments.
