"But they have a *baby* together!!" ... Ugh! Enough with that tired argument already!

I am so sick of the same old argument for having Ross and Rachel get back together: they have a baby together. That is what most all the R/R fans keep reiterating. So what?! Just because two people had sex and an accident occurred does not mean they should be in a romantic relationship with each other.

who's saying that? I think what most people are saying is that emma will be used to bring them back together, through storylines with her. But they won't reunite B/C of it...and shouldn't.

Agreed. I think Emma clearly must be a factor in it all, but she wouldn't be the sole reason. More likely that it'll be her who reminds Ross and Rachel of all they feel for each other. Both of them clearly started to display affection for each other again when Rachel was pregnant, and that kiss they shared when they left for the hospital.

Emma will probably serve as a reminder for R&R about their feelings. They'll remember all they went through together over the years, blah blah blah etc... Emma won't be the sole reason they get back together, but rather she would represent all the other reasons.

Or at least, that's my theory... :-p

Fair point. But feel free to explain to me how Ross supposedly being too petty and whiny to be with someone like Rachel justifies J+R being together - which is just as over-used and stupid an argument as the above, only it's put forward by J+R fans. Come to think about it, all the J+R vs. R+R people should just shut up altogether.

Get rid of Mike, bring back David, move Chandler into his old room and we'll have a classy final season.

You like C&J because their stories together were good fun to watch. But you can't root for them to be together as neither one is gay. :P J&R were pretty good roomies and they were fun together. This is how C&M used to be. They never gave J&R a fair shot to begin with and that's the problem as one can only speculate. You might argue that J&R would have gotten boring like C&M. For me, it beats the stupid R&R conflicts any day.

I'm with you on that. :)

Well, it would be nice to see another flashback episode.

Neither one of them has mentioned Emma at all. I find that hard to believe. Yes, it's technically been 6 years since they had a dating relationship, but you would think that during their little talks to others and mentioning that it's been 6 years they would mention that they had baby. Based on last night's show, Ross apparently does have a slight problem accepting Rachel and Joey and would probably have a problem accepting her with anyone else. No matter what happens in the future Ross loved her in high school, they had a serious relationship, and they have a child. They have a history that cannot be broken.

They do have history, but it's been more negative history than positive. The reason he can't accept her with anyone else is because he's selfish. It's always been OK for him to date other women and even marry other women, but as soon as Rachel did, Ross found all sorts of things WRONG with the guy and a dozen or more reasons why Rachel shouldn't be dating him. As far as Ross and Rachel having a serious relationship -- I married my high school sweetheart, had his baby and 3 yrs later, divorced him. So, history CAN be broken. ~~~ Kathy

And they are still in each other's lives. I think it would be a very different matter if they lived far apart, or didn't share so many friends that they were in constant contact with. But the way it is, they are constantly interacting, for much more than just being Emma's parents (indeed, they hardly interact on that level, since Emma is pretty much out of the picture). There is no way Ross can avoid seeing Rachel with someone else, because they are in each other's lives.

Feelings, smeelings....

Until Ross can grow up and respect Rachel as a person and not as a trophy to be won, then he does not deserve Rachel. It is OK for Ross to sleep with somebody hours after going on a break with Rachel. It is OK for Ross to meet Emily, date her, propose and even marry her 2 years after breaking up with Rachel. But it is not OK for Rachel to date Joey 6 years after breaking up with Ross? Ross is dating Charlie now so it isn't like he's been pining for Rachel these past 6 years. So what is with the double standard. Ross and Carol have a kid together (Ben), so should Ross feel obligated to make that relationship work? If it is OK for Carol and Suan to raise Ben, then why not have Joey and Rachel raise Emma. If Chandler and Monica end up adopting a kid, then they will be raising someone else's biological child.

I feel the only reason that J&R will be breaking up is that there are only 16 episodes left and they are trying to gear up for a Joey spinoff with Matt LeBlanc going solo.

I don't care what R&R fans say about how Ross should be with Rachel. Joey and Rachel work well together. They care for each other. There is no jealousy. They respect each other. And they can live together without fighting. Joey may have a history of dating multiple women at the same time but as far as Rachel goes, Joey is an open book. I can not see Joey cheating on Rachel and I can not see Rachel cheating on Joey.

Rachel didn't cheat on Ross when they were together (in a serious relationship) She *did* give a guy her number and kissed another guy after she had Emma, but she and Ross weren't in an exclusive relationship at the time. Another thing which I've seen throughout Friends was that Rachel and Ross had a deep unspoken mutual connection and attraction. They also cared very much about each other. Sometimes, one chooses someone that isn't necessarily the best choice for oneself as seen by others. Maybe Rachel and Ross have a connection that makes both feel that deep down inside, the one they truly want are each other. They may have fought and been unreasonable to each other, but how many ppl IRL have only been loving, considerate and reasonable to their significant others? Also, it is true that Rachel and Joey share a deep bond, but Rachel's feelings for Joey have not developed much, or been allowed to develop. LOL. Like so many others have pointed out, the writers don't seem to want to take the R&J thing further. The writers probably want R&R to end up together. Being fond of the whole R&R romance thing, I'd be happy if they did, but then it wouldn't be a huge deal if R&R went their separate ways. (I'm not writing the show LOL so I don't have a say in who ends up with whom. LOL)

I think she should end up with Gunther, personally. He'd treat her right.
