As I was doing the trivia quiz at the TV Guide site I came across the following question:

My question is -- when was this ever mentioned? I cannot remember this at all.
I thought Ross' middle name was Eustace.

I have a pet theory that Phoebe was brought up being called by her middle name (it happens), and so she doesn't know what her first name is, but few people have been convinced by me so far... :)
Of course, what's most vexing about all this, is that Rachel Karen Green has been mentioned in *three* separate episodes!!

I think Ursula told Phoebe her middle name was Phoebe because she didn't know what Phoebe's middle name was. When Phoebe said her first name was Phoebe, Ursula got along with her to end the conversation.

Now I see my text was kinda weird. So, let me make myself clear:
TOW They All Turn Thirty - When Phoebe gives Ursula the 30th birthday present, Ursula says it is their 31st birthday, and get her birth certificate to prove it. Phoebe reads the certificate and sees that Ursula's middle name is (something-I-don't-remember). Then she asks for her birth certificate, but Ursula says she doesn't have it. Phoebe asks what her middle name is. Ursula says it's Phoebe. Phoebe says "Phoebe" is her first name. Ursula says "Oh... Then I don't know", to end the conversation.
Well, it was on that episode, and that's what I think, but Tennant's theory is quite "believable". :-)))

I know a few adults who have needed to produce their birth certificates for some official purpose, then had a shock when they found out that their name was not quite what they thought it was. My sister is one of them.
