I was watching some re-runs of Caroline in the City a while ago, and Caroline's sidekick, I forget her name, went into a video store and bumped into Matthew Perry. He was trying to chat her up by saying he had rented some romantic film, but she has a horror film. He comments that he could have just been himself. She tells him to and he runs out of the store.
I'm sure I've seen this scene in Friends but from Chandler's point of view. Am I dreaming or did it really happen?

You're probably confusing it with the description on how he made a complete fool of himself with Janice, where they met in the grocery store and he was supposed to hard to get.
I can't remember when that was, but I think it's around mid-season 3.
He tries to be cool, but ends up throwing her grocery bag to the floor, or something to that extent.

Ahhh, maybe that's it. It was wierd though, because he was being really Chandler like, and it was such a small guest part for such a high profile person. I thought maybe it was like the whole 'Mad About You' / Ursula thing.
I'm pretty sure that this scene wasn't in Friends but MP was being Chandler in that episode of Caroline in the city. Just like Lea Thompson was being Caroline in TOW The Baby On The Bus.
Ahhhh I see! I'd never seen Caroline in the city when I saw that ep, so I didn't recognise her. I must watch that one again. The Chandler and Joey conversation when they were trying to toss the coin to guess which baby it was cracked me up.

Then, it's a shame that they aren't giving him good lines on Friends. The focus is on Rachel, Joey and Ross this season but the others should get truly funny lines however few they are.
I agree with Paul. On CitC, Caroline's brother not only wasn't gay but was way too busy being better than her at everything to be trying to adopt a baby. :) I don't think she was there as Caroline.
I thought of that too. On CitC, I think they once mentioned that her brother was married. They never said that he was married to a woman did they? :) This is just like how Ursula was a porn star in Friends and a Mayor in Mad About You. When Friends makes some major continuity errors in their own show with their own characters, we can't expect them to be true to the shows of their guest stars. She was definitely Caroline!
I don't understand why people can't get the answers to these questions on their own. The internet was invented for this sort of research. Step by step... 1) Go to IMDB.com. Enter Matthew Perry. In his TV credits, you see he appeared in episode 106 of 'Caroline'. 2) For a description of the episode, go to any search engine you care to name and enter "Caroline in the City episode guide". 3) Done.
As I recall it was a great scene where Perry makes an aborted attempt to pick up Annie but chickens out and runs out of the store.
Maybe because there are hundreds of people here who know the answer off the top of their heads and clearly don't mind helping out. Or maybe because some people are not very experienced with the Net and don't know how to look up something like that. Thank you for your patience and welcoming attitude to a newbie.

I don't understand why people can't read posts properly before responding. Thank you, but this would not answer my question. I know the episode existed in Caroline in the City. This is where I saw it. I was asking if the same scene had appeared in Friends from Chandler's POV.
Had I thought of it, I could have reversed your process to find the answer to my question, but I would not also have discovered that there was a similar scene I may have mistaken it for, nor would I have known that Caroline made a guest appearance in another episode, both of which people have kindly told me in response to this question.
Well, as much as I wish to agree with you, I can't this time. I'm *very* annoyed by those people constantly asking if this-and-that episode has already aired yet, because either they could find the answer on the net, e.g. on NBC's site (besides that one isn't very good, the NBC media village offers a lot more information but is not linked from the ordinary NBC site), or in the frequent air schedules posted every week in here by Chris Bastian under the topic "Upbcoming Broadcasts Schedule". Or those Kazaa questions. But I've not seen Vanessa's question here before and it's not that easy to answer via Google or the like, though possible. Newsgroups are not a free support forum, as misinterpreted in many technical groups, but is intended for discussion. And for conspiracy theories of course. So next time flame the Kazaa and "820 yet?" lamers instead.
