Hey, i bet this hasn't been done: Let's play 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon with the friends cast. We all know the easiest way---1 degree------kevin bacon worked with Jennifer aniston in Picture Perfect. And JA is on Friends. can Anybody do it with other cast members?

I would like to take this opportunity to ask a question about 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon.
I understand the game, but am wondering if there was any particular reason that anyone could provide as to why Kevin Bacon was chosen for the standard game? (I say 'standard' game on the basis that people sometimes chose other celebrities instead of Kevin Bacon).

It came from a joke - it was once said that Kevin Bacon had done so many movies and was connected to so many people that you could link him to everyone in Hollywood through six degrees of seperation, and the game evolved from it. Somehwere along the line, it was 'written' into the rules that you could only link people to him through movies and TV shows and not through off-screen connections, hence why you couldn't link Jennifer Aniston to Harrison Ford through Brad Pitt, for example, but why Jennifer > David Schwimmer > Harrison would be valid (Jennifer stars with David in Friends, who appeared with Harrison in Six Days Seven Nights) - presumably to make it harder.

1. The play was by John Guare and is older than the film. Try not to think of everything in the world as originating in movies.
2. That is not the plot or the explanation. Donald Sutherland and Stockard Channing meet Will Smith who pretends to be one person, but is another. They trace who he is and how he got to their apartment, through other people, and also the other subplots of the film are traced through relationships. It's much more metaphorical than literal.

Nation rhymes with Separation, hardly anything at all rhymes with Bacon, although I'm sure Phoebe could find something like "ache on"... :) The origin of using Kevin Bacon is from his (slightly undeserved) reputation of being in so many "filler" movies apart from his starring roles, that you could easily link him to anyone else in the movie industry. He went through a patch in his career where he took any and every role going.
