Middle names

Does anyone know all of the their middle names? I know that Rachel is Rachel Karen, but have any of the other ones said their middle names? Phoebe doesn't know hers, I remember that and I think Monica's starts with an E. My friends and I are having a debate, help us out.

I think it was Phoebe who called Joey "Joseph Francis Tribbiani". Not sure about the others.

I doubt, that Chandler has a middle name. In one episode, he pretends to be looking for a new first name, when Phoebe is looking for a name for the third triplet. I think, that Chandler would have said, he'd be using his middle name (unless it's not really, really stupid).

And yes, it's Joseph Francis.

Oh, I'm not too surprised--my father-in-law is one example; one of my grandfathers was known by his middle name, too.

Ursula isn't the most reliable source, though. :)

Phoebe: You have your birth certificate?

Ursula: Yeah, I got a big box of family stuff when my mom died.

Phoebe: Our mom.

Ursula: (sarcastic) Right! Okay. (Hands Phoebe her birth certificate.)

Phoebe: Do you have my birth certificate?

Ursula: No, I sold it to a Swedish runaway.

Phoebe: (reading the certificate) Oh my God! Oh my God, we are 31.

Ursula: Yeah.

Phoebe: I just lost a whole year of my life.

Ursula: (sarcastic) Okay.

Phoebe: Your middle name is Pamela?

Ursula: Yes.

Phoebe: Well, I never knew mine. Do you remember what it is?

Ursula: Yes! Phoebe.

Phoebe: That's my first name.

Ursula: Right, okay, then no.

So if you were to take anything Ursula says as evidence, you'd have to seriously consider the possibility that she and Phoebe are identical twins with two different mothers. We're reasonably sure that this isn't true. Since Ursula can't hold in her head for more than five minutes at a time that Phoebe is her sister, I don't see a reason to put much stock in that assertion about Phoebe's middle name--especially when she concedes she doesn't know it when Pheebs *reminds* her that "Phoebe" is her *first* name.

Plus there is the question of where the humor comes from in that exchange about the middle names. I thought the humor was based on Ursula's obliviousness--something we've seen in the past, so that it's a recurring joke. If you took this as Ursula imparting valuable information onto Phoebe, where's the laugh?

As far as I'm concerned, "Phoebe" is P's first name. You are, of course, free to believe that she's "X Phoebe Buffay"--and I'm sure you will. It's certainly not a first for us to see things differently. ;)
