Oh that's typical. The once "hip" and "with-it" has now become older and wiser, and no longer seems to tolerate or even understand the new and different ideas being put forth by the youth of today. And you're beyond that age limit of really trying to understand and accept the new world, and live content, knowing that *your* generation was the one that was SO ground-breaking. So you dismis anything new as "stupid" and "purile". I've seen it all before. And I supposed all these horrible bands "these kids today" are listening to, could really learn a thing or two from "Johnny Hates Jazz", or "Kajagoogoo"? Right? Well, am I right? I'm right, aren't I?

So he can be normal after all.... You're not that far off, actually. Everyone prefers the music from their own generation, but some of us can also appreciate music styles from other generations. I'm 31, so I grew up with music from the 70's and 80's, but the 60's did bring us some of the best artists and songs. I like rock music, but I don't care for Nine Inch Nails or the Chili Peppers. When it comes to phrases, well...that's a whole other story. Words like "groovy", "far out" and "right on" made way for "stupid", "fly" and whatever else. People from my generation and older sometimes use the old phrases to remember the good times, but mostly we do it because the phrases of today don't suit us. It's not our lingo. It ain't our slang.

You know, you're right. In a way. I think you have the right idea. Just be who you are, and let everyone else be who they are. It's just when the self-righteous megalomaniacal fascists of the world get it in their heads that their way is right, and anyone else with differing views is somehow inferior, in the end all of humanity suffers. Being who you are is fine, but some cross the limit and become annoying. The problem today is that a large group of people have no respect for others and get their rocks off beating the crap out of them by outnumbering them 5 to 1. That's their idea of "being cool". I personally hold a grudge against people like that and do my best to show them that 5 to 1 odds doesn't always mean that you're in control of the situation. Being on the receiving end a few times makes one tough. Remember Gizmo in "Gremlins 2"? The good will concur the bad....always!
