How to download "Friends" episodes from the internet - FAQ

I've seen a lot of poeple asking for where they can download "Friends", most of the answers are something like "kazaa" or "morpheus" but they suck because they are soo slow. I'm surprised that -AFAIK- no one has mentioned the "real" "distributors" of "Friends" on the net. It's #downloadfriends on irc.dal.net . They rip the episodes and 3-5 hours later they are available on the fservs in the channel. On release nights there are about 500 people in this channel.

They also have a search engine where you can search for words or lines that have been said in "Friends"

i went to the site where you had a list of everything available and i logged in got an account and everthing. but how do i get to the download section to actually download episodes or extras?

you can't download on the site itself, you have to download the program mirc, go to dalnet, register a nick, and enter the channel

I don't understand why anyone would go to Mirc to download an episode. At least, nobody who needs 8 hours to download one like I do for example. I can pause a download and resume any time I want with morpheus or kazaa. with mirc you run the risk of getting disconnected or having to stay on the channel for 8 hours etc...this sounds like someone is trying to promote a Mirc channel.

it's a very convenient way .. no mather what channel you use if you need a long time the best thing to do, would be to install a script that makes resuming possible.

I'm trying to help some people, this channel doesn't need any promotion because as I said, they have around 500-550 people on release nights (that's a lot for an irc channel) ! IRC is in my opinion a lot better than kazaa/morpheus (All the eps are on the fservs in the channel, you have a lot more information on what you are downloading,..). On kazaa/morpheus I get speeds of 5-10kb/s. On some of the fservs I can get speeds of 50-160kb/s. You just have to find the right fserv and queue, it doesn't take long. Only 3-5 hours after the ep as aired in the states I can download it, you can't say the same thing of Kazaa.

It's probably not the best for 56k modem users but for anyone with a broadband connection it is.
