I don't think so because with Mad about you there was only 2 major characters, with Friends there are 6. I think it would be really interesting, now that they've had a heavy R&R and now C&M focus if the last couple of years had heavy Joey & Phoebe focus (Not as a couple of course, but like Joey's career, and some more stories about the world of Phoebe, she's so interesting they could probably do a whole season about her).

Personally I feel that it should have been Joey and Monica as the couple and not Chandler and Monica. First of all Monica had a crush on Joey when he first moved in and that one conversation they had at the end in TOW the Jam(very nice of Joey). I just don't get it out how C&M were put together when it should have been J&M after what happened in the first few seasons. Most of the storylines revolved around J&M doing stuff together especially in TOW the German Laundry Detergent.

Actually, that was the *only* Season One episode with a J&M story.
In the pilot, it seems Chandler was being established as a gay character, but once the series got underway he clearly wasn't. Chandler & Monica were close from then on. For example, their very first tender moment is halfway through 102 "TOW the Sonogram at the End", when the gang is leaving Central Perk after discussing siblings & parents. Monica says that Chandler is an only child, so he quips that he had an imaginary friend who his parents preferred, and the pair put their arms around each other as they exit.
It's not much, but it was the first one.

If the writers had come up with some really good meaty stories involving Pheobe, Joey or Rachel or Ross over the past season or so (and before anyone jumps in with Phoebe's dad...) *and* developed them over more than one or two eps. , then I'd see what you were saying.
I can't envisage them starting to do it just because 2 of the characters are getting married.

Exactly Ariel. I wasn't on ATF then, but I bet there were fans saying that they hoped Friends would not be renewed for Season 5.
And if they don't, others can. It's up to BKC to pick up their baby.

I agree. I loved season 5 and I liked season 6 almost as much. I think the show has gotten better with time and the characters are growing -after all this isn't the Simpsons. I think it would get boring and old real quick if we continued to see the kind of stories that were done in the first 2 years. The show was good then , but wasn't much different from other sitcoms. If this show didn't change it would have been just like Seinfeld - finally having to add a minor new character in Puddy for Elaine. You can only do the loser boyfriend / girlfriend so many times. I think that now that C & M are together for good you will see different kinds of storylines in the years ahead. The few people that don't like C & M together say it spells the end of the show, but they are under the mistaken idea that their views are shared by the majority and I don't think they are. So many people I know love C & M together so I doubt that they will kill the show.

If there's a wedding at all, it will be February, during the February sweeps month.
Season 7's Finale will be Monica's pregnancy test. Either we'll find out the result, or it will be ala Murphy Brown, where Monica holds up a pregnancy test in front of the audience and the scene fades out.

What I mean is that she'll be holding up the test and stare at it in front of the audience. The audience won't be able to see what color it changed to. That will be up to the writers. And besides. Regardless of what happens in Courtney's real life doesn't mean that it can't happen anyways in Monica's TV life. True?
