TOW the Proposal part 1 and 2

* For any and all your negative views of the finale,.. My heart actually stopped practically.. I felt physically moved.. and ohmigod.. I know I am a C+M fan so of course I am extremely biased, .. and I know that the others didn't get much action.. but ohmigod.... I have never been so moved by a Friends episode in my life. This is coming from a girl who had already a) saw the pictures b) heard the sounds clips c) read the script.. I knew what was coming.. but this is no way prepared me for the actual episode.

Wow.. first of all.. I don;t think Chandler has showed as much emotion.. or at least not for such a long time.. and Perry did it great. My first thought was that Monica never considered having Richard back.. in my opinion.. she was confused sure.. but she loved Chandler.. and I may be slightly wrong.. and you gusy can all have a go at me for that.. but I thought this was a brilliant episode.

Bear in mind when they filmed this episode we wern;t sure if there was ever going to be another season.. and you can;t just throw Ross and Rachel abck together.. it takes good script writing and a bit of time.. so .. on the whole.. it will be best for everyone that is going to be a season 7 or 8... I really hope nothing happens (too much, permanently) to screw up Monica and Chandler's engagement...

Richard brought a lot of laughter... and although he at first seemed the bad guy.. he didn't know how serious it was between Chan and Mon.. and ok.. what he did was a bit wrong.. but he followed his feelings.. and saw at the end that Monica had got over him.

I don;t at the moment recall so much more drama compared to comedy in an episode (this is except for TOW the morning after........)

For many there was not enough of the others.. but for me and my few friends.. this was a brilliant.. wonderful. and extremely moving episode....

The ending was magical.. shame the TV woman had to speak over it as their were dancing.. hope that doesn;t happen on the C4 showing of it all all I can say is.. "thank god I can breath now" "will my heart stop doing the fiunal mile of the marathon" and "ohmigod.. I think I need a new tissue box (has Paul been round to Helena's house ?? " How wonderful !!

I don't wanna start anything, but even the TV Guide said that the "Friends" season finale was "mediocre."

And as for your opinions, Helena, I'm not about to bash you for them. I just want to say that this episode, to me, didn't have much drama. From that start, it was obvious that Chandler and Monica were going to end up together. Personally, I think that the writers had heard some of the backlash about C&M being boring, so they threw this together to try and spice them up. Ho hum.

I think that "TO The Morning After" was more "dramatic" than this, simply because we probably all believed that Ross and Rachel were going to resolve it...but they didn't.

The ending scene (not the dancing...before that) was touching (but straight from fanfic, as has been said), but that's all there is to it for me.

I agree. The writers tried to give C&M the "R&R emotion" they desperately lack. But they failed miserabley. C&M's premise is that they are the "comedic" couple, and R&R are the "dramatic" couple. But this episode only succeeded in making C&M look pathetic, and also cheapened R&R's old scenes in the process.

Basically, this was an episode catered to C&M fans. Plain and simple. If you are a C&M fan, this was one of the greatest episodes ever. If you aren't a C&M fan, this was just an average episode.

To be a great episode, there has to be more than one good story and all characters have to be involved. The auction/boat story was childish, even for Joey. Ross/Liz wasn't bad, but wasn't great either. And the backup story was an obvious filler to give the other characters easy closure had this been the final episode. The other four deserved better, especially R&R given all their history. I would have been furious if it all ended like this.

What irked me the most was Ross' absence at the end. I know David wasn't at the taping. But with Ross being the one who knew C&M the longest, it was stupid not having him there. If any one of the four should have come in, it should have been Ross. They should have ended the episode with the engagement, and noboby else should have come in the room.

In my opinion, TOW Paul's the Man was a much better, more solid episode than this. All characters were treated fairly and had significant roles.

They could have optioned to film his part earlier, but they did not. This could possibly be the beginning of something in the season premiere. Of course, if this had been the final episode, I'd be one pissed off--not just Ross--but "Friends" fan. The characters were not given equal time, though I thought that the boat story was completely Joey.

And as for the thoughts that this episode was "brilliant," don't forget about "TOW Everyone Finds Out," "TOW The Thanksgiving Flashbacks," "TO That Could Have Been," and "TOW No One's Ready." They, I believe, are far more brilliant than "TOW The Proposal."

Hell...for me, watching Ross and Rachel drunkenly stumbling out of the Vegas wedding chapel was more dramatic than watching Monica (who looked to be putting on weight, thank God) choose between Chandler and Richard.

The blame David Schwimmer for that who apparently decided the movie filming was more important then the possible series finale of the show.

Still, the director should have pre-taped an ending scene and edited them together. Hell, for all we know, they could have done it and put it in in case it was the final episode. But it's not a big deal now, so let's drop it.

No, blame the writers who could have (and should have) made them film that scene beforehand so that Ross *could* be there. It's very likely that Schwimmer *did* try and be there, but when Spielberg wants you at a certain place at a certain time, you *don't* turn him down. (Btw, it's *not* a movie he's filming, it's a mini-series.) They really don't have an excuse on this one - they could have written that scene so that Ross was included and pre-taped it, or written it so that none of the other Friends showed up at all, but they shouldn't have let it end like that.

SURE.. I respect your opinion.. but maybe it may be because you don;t have invested interest in C+M ? no problem.. with 2 seasons left.. there will be a lot of other stuff to look forward too........for other people's tastes... IMO.. a great episode.. but for others.... not their taste.

Didn't you see it coming, and I'm presuming you did, 'cause you go onto say you'd already read the script.

Perhaps you haven't watched many episodes if you've never been so moved by an ep. before in your life. But I can't see how what you're saying can be 100% true if you'd already seen the pics and read the script...

And as for the closing credits scene - what was that? Eric Clapton? It looked like some sort of 3rd rate wedding waltz in Croyden.

A very dissapointing end to a dissapointing season.

As for the episodes, I've seen all the episodes several times, so I don't think you can assume that just because some of us enjoyed that scene means we haven't watched Friends for a long time.

I thought it was brilliant, and no one is able to convince me that it was pure crap. :)

seen every single episode.. (there is a couple which I perenially miss.. for no apparent reason except holidays.. HOW ANNOYING) them being TOW the fake Monica, TOW the cop and TOW the racing car bead but.. reading those scripts and reviews.. I hardly see they could be more moving listen.. it's just personal opinion.. no crime or anything I appreciate MANY people didn;t like it.. nevermind.. can;t suit everyone's tastes

because I LOVE Friends.. I only look at the positive sides of it. I watch my favourite sitcom for entertainement and interest in it's characters.. and not to see the abd points of it. I'm not saying you do that./. but some people do...
