I need a lot of help

Yes I know you've been saying that to me for ages.

Okay, here's the deal. I've got to do a project for media studies in skills development, and I had to choose two skills to develop and do a project in. the two skills I chose were video production (cause I like camera work) and Multi media (causa my web site). To combine the two together, I have to record a scene that has something to do with friends and then upload it onto the website, with a disclaimer of course... I don't particularly want to record a re-enactment of a friends scene cause it'll just ruin it. I thought of doing the routine so people can have a laugh at me and my sis making fools out of ourselves. What I really need to know is what you think of this, and if you have any ideas of what I could do for the video it would be a great help! Thank you in advance

That could be really funny, but I have to do the camera work... That's the thing, I don't want to cause a copyright infringement. I didn't think that doing the routine would be falling foul though, cause it won't be exact, esp[ecially as my sister can't do it

You can photocopy, copy, duplicate, etc etc etc copyrighten material for educational purposes (within reason) all you want. This is why libraries can have copies of material they lend out, not the "originals".

It just came to my attention that I'm not sure you're in the US, so it might be slightly different elsewhere. I do believe that the US expects some sort of variation on these laws overseas, but the variation can't be by too much. China (?) recently indicated it would "comply" with US expectations on intellectual property law, if it would help it reach M(ost) F(avored) N(ation) status for trade with the US, which I think it is now.

A video of two girls having an argument with no 3rd person to shoot it could acquire a whole new dynamic. If you don't have a big mirror handy, shoot it early on Sunday morning with the light shining off a shop window to show you both. Then as the argument gets heated, you throw the camera to each other in anger so you can get close-ups of you both. Of course you don't actually throw it, just pretend since the audience won't be able to tell from the blurry picture.

You could do the world's first animated "Friends" FAQ where your sister asks what "TOW" stands for and what song they were playing once and how many times Rachel met Chandler and why the door numbers changed and all that jazz, while you cleverly supply all the answers...

yeah I'll do that then. Sorry for sounded a bit bitter before, I've been REALLY stressed out recently. Hey! how about this for the link just out of interest. I know it'll go back to making friends, apparantly. but how about I link the two areas by doing the opening credits like I said before (you know with the ghost and that), but I use multi media skill to animate the ghost on, and I don't put it up on the site, and then I don't get caught! :) Nah, I'll stick to the FAQ :) thanx Tennant!

First point; Will you be wearing underpants when doing the routine? Just wondering. Second, I'm a bit surprised you're not using Chandler in your scene. There has to be some way you can work him into this. The only other idea I had was to film your own version of the opening credits. Just head down to the nearest fountain and have a splash about with the Friends theme playing in the background. If there isn't a fountain near you then you'll just have to improvise. The bath perhaps? Let me know when it's done and I'll pay a visit to your site.

Thought bought that too. But I'd do it my own way. I've got this fanfic that's a halowe'en one, and I thought of doing the characters having fun in central perk and getting freaked by a ghost, and then running into the rembrants and you can hear like... feedback and stuff any thoughts on this?

That's a great idea. Both Chandler and Joey have very...er... interesting styles. Phoebe too as her own special moves as we saw in the TOW everyone finds out. We already know that Ross & Monica can get on down with the best of them so that just leaves Rachel. I'm positive I saw her sway a bit in TOW Barry and Mindy's wedding. There must be something in all of this which you could use in your scene. Instead of just parodying the routine perhaps you perform your own version of each characters unique dance style while quoting some of your favourite lines. To hell with copyright that's what I say (but if anyone asks, I'll deny everything).

Tricky. You've already got a lot going on there which sounds great but difficult to pull off. I like the idea of a ghost but let's face it- in reality that's going to be your sister with a sheet over her head. Unless, of course, you've a talent for special fx we don't know about. Sorry I can't be of more help but if I think of anything else I'll let you know.

That is a really good idea! All of them. Well in the opening credits, Rachels the only one dancing 'normally' so I could start off with her, move onto Phoebe, then the Gellers, and then finish off with Joey and Chandler! And to Hell with copyright! totally agree with you!

Well we've got a good editing machine at school and a cool media department, I'm sure I could do it if the ghost was like a shadow or something, whaddya think?

Yeah, well if sites that allow you to download whole episodes off the web survive for so long, I really don't think you've a great deal to worry about. First, they'd have to find you and second, you'd almost certainly get some kind of warning to remove copyrighted material from your site before they took action. By that time you probably would have completed your project and moved on.
