Do they have ANY sparks? The character of Mike is seriously boring (and I thought that long before last night's episode) and no match for Phoebe. I realize that it's time to give Lisa something to do and her character deserves to find some happiness before the show ends, but PLEASE don't let it be with this bore.

I actually like Mike. He's cute and he seems to have a dry sense of humor, which I like. I did think he was boring in 909, but then... he was with Ross, and Ross is kinda boring himself. I want to see Mike hanging out with Chandler and/or Joey. :)

The weird thing about Phoebe is that she has often chosen partners who seem conventional, responsible and even authority figures, in contrast to her character as the open-minded, counter-culture free spirit. The possible exception might be the gay ice dancer, but among others, there was the scientist guy, the psycho-analyst, firemen, a cop, and the health inspector. She also likes older men. This may be deliberate on the part of the writers, under the opposites attract theory, or just to suggest that what Phoebe really craves is security and protection from an older and/or more responsible partner. That's why it really wasn't out of character to match Phoebe with Mike. As well as being a lawyer, judging from his parents, he is also seriously rich; and as an aspiring musician they have just enough in common to peek Phoebe's interest, although one should remember we haven't seen Phoebe play her guitar since the seventh season. So, as she ages, Phoebe is becoming more mainstream, less creative, and perhaps less interesting. Of course, the writers are focusing on Phoebe's attempts to find her long-term partner this season, but the noticeable thing is how much they have invested in Phoebe's relationship with Mike. Phoebe dumped the supposed love of her life -- the scientist guy -- and, in episode 905, was even willing to dump her friends at her birthday party to be with him. It is clear that Mike will be more than just another passing boyfriend. If there seems to be little heat between them, remember that this show has never been very interested in portraying romance between the characters. Both Ross and Rachel as well as Monica and Chandler seemed thrown together without developing much chemistry beforehand.
