Thanks, but it was set to 5 days. I've just run OE and it hasn't deleted them, it's very temperamental. The other thing is that half my posts don't show. argh!

David provided one possible explanation to your problem. If that doesn't help try checking "View", "Current View" and see what setting you have chosen. It appears to me that you have selected to Hide read messages.

One other thing, does the count for the group go upa nd down?? It *could* be your newsserver that suck.. I had one like that that would keep deleting my messages for me when I had sync set to "All"

Check tools/options/Maintenance and check that your messages doesn't get deleted after a few days.

Check tools/options/Read and amke sure that all messages isn't marked as read when you leave the group.

Check View/Curent view and set it as you like (show/hide read messages)

Left click the newsgroup to check properties there and see what syncronisations ettings you have set up, maybe you don't DL everything (headers is enough, but you need everything in order to be able to search inside the messages).

That's just a few pointers, hope it heps!

Thanks, done it all, it's so werid. I had the same settings and the same program for over a year, then it all went mad. So I reset my newsgroups and re-downloaded everything. It hasn't done it since. Maybe it's my ISP? Does that make sense?

Ok, this is getting weirder, OE is downloading old messages, for example, messages that were sent like 10 days ago are coming in as new!

well, all in all it sounds like a damn good idea to me. Good thing I'm nearly done with my Zivildienst, as I might get in trouble if someone who read my Verweigerung reads this.
