I'm going on a ski trip to America this March, and I was wondering if I could catch a new episode of Friends. Now, I know *nothing* about the tv system in the US, so would anyone care to fill me in? I know it would be on NBC, but isn't that on cable?

No, not generally. Any decent sized town has a local NBC affiliate. And most hotel cable systems carry NBC anyways
NBC is a regular standard channel in most areas. You should be able to see Friends wherever you stay.
where are you going skiing, becuase it comes on at differnt times in different time zones. if youre going to colorado it will probably come on at 7:00
and in Vermont it will be on at 8:00 pm

NBC is a regular broadcast station, and most hotels will have it on their cable systems. The new eps are always on Thursday nights, at 8pm eastern time, 7 central, and I have no idea about pacific and mountain time. Actually, even if the episode that's on when you're here isn't *brand* new, it still might be new for you if you are from another country :-) Hope this helps,

First, if you know what city/town you're going to be in, you might want to try doing a web search on that city/town. Then click on those that say : W...... or K....., for example: The telvision stations in the Eastern half of the U.S. begin with a W.. Mine here is WLWT-Cincinnati. This isn't the channel number, but the name of the station. But on the Western half of the U.S. the channel name will begin w/a K. Like: KNBC......I don't know if that's a real station name, but it's just an example. Also look for things that say Channel or NBC affiliate. If you can't find anything try going to Yahoo.com Go to the very bottom and it will say Yahoo! get local. If you don't know the zip code of where you'll be staying, you can click on the more button and try to find the city. I just stuck in my zip code and it came up with my city. It had a search in it and I entered television stations and the first item that came up was: television stations listings. It had a little [address] thing by it. I'd click on that. I just did and it took me to: http://tv.yahoo.com It says you can enter in the zip code or choose a show. I would find out the zip code for where you'll be staying, enter the zipcode at http://tv.yahoo.com and then look for Friends. Okay, so I just entered my zip code and it came up with a whole line of searches. I did the LOCAL LISTINGS search. In this search I chose Cincinnati and clicked GO. This search comes up with a CHOOSE A LINE-UP selection. Here I went to OH,-Broadcast only in Cincinnati. OH is the state and Broadcast only in Cincinnati means the public broadcast stations like NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX, PBS, WB. You want to choose the place that says: the abbreviation for your state,-Broadcast only in the city you'll be. It took some searching in the pop-down menu to find OH, -Broadcast only in Cincinnati. You only want the one that speaks about the actual state and city you're in. So I just completed that by pressing GO and when you're finished doing that, you go to FINISH and it says the listings for today and the time it is right now. You can change the date and times. So, if you'll be there the first week of April, the first Thursday of April is April 6th.
What I just found out is it looks like you can only search for about a week in advance. So you should check it out before you leave. Also, your hotel should have a paper by the t.v. on which stations the networks are on. If you can't find one, just go to the front desk and ask or get a t.v. guide. But a lot of the time hotels have their own cable systems so the channels won't be the same. A t.v. guide wouldn't help then. Friends is shown at 8 Eastern Standard Time, 7 Central- Mountain time, and I don't know what time for Pacific Time. It will probably be 8 there, too. I don't know. I think you said you were going to Colorado b/c that's where most people ski. Colorado is Mountain time so Friends will be on at 7p.m. if you're in Colorado. Hope this helps.
