SPOILER FOR 813 SPOILER

I have seen a general spoiler for the 813 episode.

Some folks don't like spoilers, so look away.

This gives us some very clear hints as to the direction they are going with this.

It's going to get very complicated.

Last warning.

Joey will be having a great deal of guilt over his new attraction to Rachel. In his confusion, he give Monica a muddled impression, and she goes and tells Phoebe that Joey is in love with her. In the meantime, Ross and Rachel agree not to learn the sex of their child - but Rachel peeks at the doctor's notes. Monica suggests that Chandler try a nice, relaxing bubble bath, but then can't get him out of the tub.

So we now have Phoebe running around thinking Joey is in love with her, Joey feeling like a dog because of Rachel, and Ross and Rachel acting like people who share a child.

So the writers perceive Joey with the mother of Ross' child as a moral dilemma, and important. And they've just made Phoebe vulnerable, when she didn't even need to be.

I think Joey's going to end up with Phoebe; otherwise, both Ross AND Phoebe will be hurt by a Joey/Rachel pairing, and I just don't think that's how they choose to end the show. This is going to be wrapped up very neatly and predictably.

I hope joey and rachel do not get together. that is just "yuck" to me. I want ross and rachel together, but it bothers me that she acts like she is doing him a favor by having anything to do with him. That is just so wrong. I think ross seams like a wonderful person who deserves the best. She just looks down on him WAY too much.

I agree! I really don't want Rachel and Joey to get together...........it would be way too weird!!!

Face it, Rachael's kind of a snob. Joey can do better, and really Ross can too. But I think deep down Ross has always loved Rachael and if she can get over being so mean to him, I want the two of them to get back together.

So, you want him to get back with the same snob, who will treat him bad just cos he loved her once. If those two get back together, I can't stand to watch friends take a back turn to seasons 2/3. I'll not stop watching but I'll ff the R&R scenes.

Thirdly, The writers, producers, etc.... know that NOT putting R&R together to end the show would be way to disapointing to FRIENDS fans. I just don't believe that they would chose to hurt the show like that. Not to mention the Joey and Phoebe fans out there! I think that it is safe to say that the writers are just buying time before the R&R reunion to grab the audience and put a little twist on things. What do you think?

Not all Friends fans would agree with you, but *I* would be disappointed. It's odd though, that in an interview with David and Jennifer, they mentioned that they didn't think the fans still held any stock in the R&R relationship. IT was a surprise to them that, according to David, it was 5 or 10 minutes before the crowd settled down after he picked up the red sweater on his way out. (This indicating that he was the baby's father - for those of you who haven't been there yet but are reading the spoiler anyway.) Jennifer said it was much less time, but still they both agreed that there is apparently a strong R&R force out there.

reunion

It makes sense to me that there would be a few twists left in the relationship. But it's getting a bit more fragile now. Maybe brittle would be a better word--not so much twisting tollerance. I think this season is a good time to bring these kookie kids to their senses and get them pulling the relationship in the same direction at the same time.

Or maybe they (they being the writers) try to keep as many options as possible. Like, what if Friends ends with Series 8? They could have the birth and that'd be it, no R&R geting together or R&J whatsoever, or they have them slowly developing the same feelings they once had for each other and have them marry in a 9th series, or they have Joey & Rachel getting together, with Ross's "permission" as long as he has the possibility to see his child. Or they bring back Julie or Emily, that should get Rachel going crazy - who knows at this point? It's really too soon to tell, and as long as it's not clear if the guys will sign for some more years of Friends, nothing will be decided, at least I would think so...
