why J and R won't work

besides for the fact that tPTB obviously don't want them together (did you see the teaser for next week1!!) Rachel wants better than Joey. Yes, while J is sensitive and puppy dog cute he's also [excuse me for saying this] not the brightest or the one with the best career aspects for the future!! WHat i'm saying is that he doesn't bring much to the table, while he may be adorable. rachel is smart and deep- she wants more for her life besides puppy dog adorable.

not that that means ross, but who knows. i've always maintained that chandler was the best catch in all aspects . mon got lucky.

To say that she would want better than Joey is to say that there's no more to life than your Job and your IQ. Why couldn't she be happy with him?

Yes, it does and it worked out for Monica and Chandler, so why couldn't it work out for Rachel and Joey??? Are Monica and Chandler the ONLY two of the six friends to find happiness? The six friends are the core group.....the writers will not bring in another person to marry one off to. They've tried that. Remember Emily? The show will go out with the six of them together. Because just as Monica and Joey or Ross and Pheobe wouldn't work, neither would Rachel and Joey. Ross and Rachel belong together and will ultimately get together. I love this storyline, but as a means of seeing Joey mature and grow--not to see Joey and Rachel get together in any serious fashion.

The promos were pretty misleading, as usual. I don't think much will come of this except that Joey will have an unrequited crush on Rachel. I think Joey is finally realizing that maybe he needs more substance than sex in his relationships. Could he possibly be ready to *gasp* settle down? Remember when C&M first got together he had dreams about Monica and wanting what C&M had? I think it's like that with Joey-he's comfortable with his friends. I don't see Joey acting on it though, he wouldn't get in the way of R&R and their baby.

THis is exaclty what I thought of the episode too. I thought it was sweet. Well acted on the part of Le BLanc and Aniston. But it seemed very clear to me that it was one sided and that Rachel was not feeling antyhing romantic with Joey.

This will be a growing experience for "Our Pal Joey"

I think you missed one. What about Ross and Monica, they've know each other longer than any of the others. Wouldn't THAT turn a few heads if there was even the slightest HINT of something untoward there.

Remember a classic Joey's not too bright bit when Phoebe did a little "say the first thing that pops into your head"game...the last question was "who would you rather sleep with Rachel or Monica?" and Joey said "Monica...wow that's weird, I always thought it would have been Rachel..."

The Ross comes in and Joey decides to play the game with Ross...when Joey get's to "who would you rather sleep with Rachel or Monica?" Ross stares at him and says "You are sick!" Joey says "Oh right, the whole Rachel thing..." Never thinking that Ross and Monica are not a possibilty...

I'm not slighting Joey, but Ross has been very supportive of Rachel's wishes. He proposed (granted, not particularly romantic, but he proposed), he wanted her to live with him, he was there for the ultrasound, and will support the child both emotionally and financially.
