So Monica, (who dearly hopes to have children one day, and she isn't getting any younger, and for all she knows might hit a snag), is asking her best friend if she'd do the same big favour. Rachel is rather selfish so she wouldn't do it for just anyone, and she only says she would after Monica confirms that she was just asking a hypothetical question...
