My God, Matt Perry looked absulutely dreadful in the opener. Everytime he had a line, I couldn't even tell if it was funny or not because I was so distracted by his frighteningly thin frame. Last season I thought he could lose a few pounds, but I didn't care because he looked healthy enough. But now he looks like a skeleton. And anyone notice how he had difficulty speaking his lines? I must say that Matt's emaciated form cast a pall over the whole episode for me, as he looks as if he is terribly ill. I have a few possible thoughts on how he came to be in this disturbing state, but I'll keep them to myself as to not speculate on something I don't have the facts to. It's one thing for an actor to be unappealing (ie Courtney last year), it's another thing altogether if they look as unhealthy as Matt did. And on a much less significant note, he really can't be funny when every time he speaks you are reminded of his condition. Oh man, lets hope he gets better.

I agree completely - it was really disturbing (not to mention distracting). And without facts, all you can do is speculate. I certainly don't want to start unfounded rumors, but am curious to see if anyone agrees with my impressions. Personally, he looks like he's suffered a small stroke. One side of his mouth was considerably more downturned than the other, which would help explain his new speech impediment. Then again, he sounded like someone wearing dentures, which makes me wonder what could have happened to his real teeth.
Again - sorry if this sounds like rumor-mongering, but I'm just concerned and looking for opinions/answers.

When I first seen him I thought he looked odd but now that I've seen it like 4 times I think he looks good.
I believe it was just the hairstyle he chooses to wear with his newly trimmed frame that made his appearance seem so drastically changed. I don't think he looked bad at all, just different than what we remembered from last season. Personally, I preferred seeing him with a bit more weight but that isn't my call. ;)
As far as his speech, I watched the episodes a few times and didn't notice anything different. From what I can remember he has always had that little "whistle".

Did you notice that he looked a little better in the second one? And I was wondering if these were taped before the TNT tribute to Bruce Willis? The reason I ask is I think he looked really good then. He had a bit more meat on his bones.
God this thread is like sitting at a 6th grade lunch table. I'm sure MP is fine, and if he isn't he has plenty of family & friends to help support him through it.

There was only one line that I thought he had real trouble delivering: "Way to save your dignity my man." Then I tried to say it myself and it is almost completely impossible to say in a smooth and believable way (In the context that it was spoken).
