How come gentile actresses Courtney Cox and Jennifer Aniston play Jewesses and real-life Jewess Lisa Kudrow plays a gentile on the show?

Monica (by the way it's spelled Courteney) is not Jewish, just her father is, and Rachel isn't Jewish either.

In "TOW The Holiday Armadillo," it's apparent that Monica and Ross are both Jewish, just not practicing.

Rachel's religion has been debated over and over again, and she's at least half-Jewish. On more than one occassion, she's worn the Star of David.

I believe it was season 4's christmas eppy but when Pheebs was trying to write a christmas song for her friends, she wrote a line about Rachel's Dradel, and Rachel said she didn't have one. So I don't think that Rachel is the slightest bit Jewish.
