And suddenly, from the ashes, some good news

I read a commentary on the forecast for next season.

Hold onto your hats, kids, this brings me no end of joy. VERONICA'S CLOSET HAS BEEN CANCELED. And Jesse, while not yet actually dead, lost 4% of its viewing audience in its sophomore year. There is little way to really get this puppy going, and it is ALSO in danger of the ax.

If things go really, really well, Kauffman and Crane will have exactly one show next year. Not three. Just one. And if they actually have to give their full attention just to Friends, things could change.

That's my guess. Though I haven't heard about Kauffman and Crane creating any new sitcoms yet, that doesn't mean they won't. Kevin Bright is already directing a new one, so there's no reason the other two thirds of the production company can't start a new sitcom.

Where'd you read this? This brings me no end of joy (finally, the torture is OVER!!!), but as with everything these days, I want to read it for myself.

But if things don't go well, then they could end up with no shows at all. It'd be dramatic (or is it narrative?) irony at its best, if that were the case - the two shows that could be considered responsible for Friends' slow demise would end, but not in time to save it. Oh well. (I envy those of my friends who are just regular fans right now.)

It came from Ken Parish Perkins' television column in the Fort Worth Star Telegram. He is our TV critic. It is not a tabloid; this is our regular municipal newspaper.

Oh, yay, they've got a bit on Roswell (the TV show) as well! :) Except there's no Friends stuff. Oh well, the Roswell stuff makes up for it. :)
