Some people love spoilers, others just want to be surprised. Personally, I always like to read spoilers, and then I still enjoy watching the shows when they come out. But have any of you noticed the way these spoilers are freaking some people out? These people are dying to find out what is going to happen at the end of the season, and it seems to be driving them buggy. For these people, imagine what it would be like just watching the shows as they unfold. There wouldn't be much of this anxiety until the season's cliffhanger ending. I guess the deal with spoiler addicts is that they are too damned impatient to wait for the shows to be aired (at least I know I am), but it is interesting to see how much torture a spoiler addict will go through that the non spoiler addict avoids. With the information so readily available on the net, it is mighty hard to ignore.
Spoilers: the root of unhappiness
I used to want to read spoilers.. Then I read a spoiler and even talked about it..then you have expectations for the episode and you do miss out on some suprises. I found I enjoyed the show better when I didnt know about it. Now it is hard to resist. But so far so good..now its just keeping spoilers out of posts with no space!! ~Act

Spoilers are to a certain extent addicting. I recall the first one I ever read was for TO At the Beach, and the concept of finding out about a kiss between R&R ahead of time was great. Now, unfortunately, none of the spoilers really please me, but I still continue reading them for the sake of doing so.

but if I didn;t know what the episode was about.. I would need to watch it at least 5 times... and I don;t think I could possible cope with waiting so long I care about these characters too much to not know what their fate is, especially if everyone else knows. A UK person (like myself ./.just as an example) has to wait so long for the latest USA episode.. they need to know what is happening I respect those who don;t wanna know.. in fact I admire their self control but I wouldn;t last very long....

Spoilers are not the root of unhappiness. In my case, they've been an emergency warning system which minimized how pissed off I was. :-) In all this time, I have been sorry to have read a Friends spoiler exactly once - TOW Ross' Wedding. On the other hand, I mostly skim them so I rarely know all the details and even if I am aware of major plot developments, I still find watching the way the scenes unravel to be lots of fun when it is well done.

The reason I say what I say is that I *ADORE* reading spoilers.
When I was young enough to receive Advent Calendars, I would open all the little doors straight away to see what was inside. After the first time, I was told off: so I carried on peeking, but now used a sharp knife to prise open the doors to be neatly closed once more; and I refrained from eating any of the chocolates until the due date.
I want to do the same thing with "Friends" that I did with the chocolates: read all the spoilers to find out the latest goss, but then see each episode for the first time fresh & unsullied by foreknowledge.

Actually Claire, when I originally began this thread, I chose the title to be a somewhat humorous reference to the torment that some fans go through when they find out certain traumatic information about upcoming eps.. I happen to be much like yourself in that I also view the spoilers as an early warning system. That way I don't get too disappointed when a much hyped episode of Friends doesn't quite deliver the goods. I still enjoy watching the shows when they come out.
