this might not be answerable, but does anybody know how much gunther gets paid? i know its obviously not up there with the rest of the cast, but i was just wondering as he is pretty much on every single episode.

I didn't think Gunther owned the place, but even if he did, he would not be running the place on his salary and tips. Though, depending on how many just lounge in that place and don't buy anything, he might just be making minimum wage and tips to take home as salary, because the cost of the place would eat everything else up.

He's the one who hired Stephanie Schiffer (a.k.a. Chrissie Hynde) to be the professional musician to play at Central Perk. He told Rachel that Phoebe was so bad that she made him want to stick his finger in his ear and swirl it around, or something along those lines.

Oh, and that episode was also the first appearance of Giovanni Ribisi, playing not Frank Jr., but the guy who dropped a condom in Phoebe's guitar case and came back for it. Though I guess he could have been Frank, Jr. He didn't get a name that I know of.

Now, that's more useful. Who could forget the head of the household from "Alf"?

I think I remember him on Friends now, though only vaguely. Someone else mentioned what else happened in the episode, and I remember that (or at least, I saw the episode more recently in reruns).

I can picture Max Wright as a somewhat grumpy owner of a coffee shop where people hang out and don't always buy something, but I'm not sure if I really remember him in that episode.
