When Phoebe looks at Ursala's driver's license it's obviously a cheap knock off. First there is no black "credit card" strip on the back of a real NY license, and although the front looked okay, NY licenses are not laminated like that (like a Rhode Island license). Of course this means nothing, and should bother no one ... it doesn't even bother me, I just noticed it, so I thought I would point it out. ;-)

A friend of mine from California went to buy cigarettes, and since she hasn't had a car since she moved to Washington, she hadn't renewed her license (she is in her 30s, so no 'minor' things on hers). The clerk refused to sell her cigarettes because her driver's license was expired. To this day I wonder if she thought my friend started to grow younger after the license was no longer valid.

I honestly didn't think that this post would get any replies, but since it did, I re-looked. It's funny too cause re-watching the episode (Ep806) I noticed that although familiar, there was something wrong with the license. Looking at mine, I then realized that they were using the old NY State License (I can't believe I didn't originally recognize that, silly me, lol).
Sooo, as somewhat a retraction the back of the license is actually correct. The old NYS licenses DID have the long black credit card strip. And the front is clearly a NYS license due to layout, color scheme, and the little outline of New York State in the top right hand corner. However, they still aren't laminated like that, and I think somewhere around 1996 was the last year that they were issued. There is a brand new design that is used now.
So, the license was closer to correct than I thought (except for the cheesy lamination), but it's way too old. Although it is totally plausible that Ursula is carrying around an old expired license. And it is plausible that for reasons known only to her, Ursula would have given her ID a re-lamination that was unnecessary.
Ahhh, I should have known better than to bring up something inane like that on the Friends Newsgroup... ha ha.

Ha ha. I guess you can totally scrap it. It is within the realm of reason that Ursula has a 7 year old or so expired license that she has needed to give a cheesy re-lamination (probably because it's 7 years old, lol). So you've seen the episode? And you know that "the now infamous" driver's license makes all of a 7 second appearance. I don't think it merits a side comment. =) Unless you want to point out that crazy Ursula carry's an old (since redesigned), expired c.1996 NY State Driver's License as ID, that she has been forced to re-laminate. Ha ha.
