I'm depressed

My Mariners lost. I need to watch a Friends rerun to cheer me up? Any suggestions?

Oh BTW, I loathe the Yankees. Joey's a Mets fan, right?

Lewis, I am an Indians fan living in the NYC area. You can only imagine how I feel. Even though the Mariners beat the Indians, I wanted them to beat the Yankees. I am so tired of the Yankees.

Didn't Joey and Janice go to a Mets game once? Maybe they are Mets fans.

I think you're correct. So they're fans of the Mets, Rangers (as a Canucks fan, I can't agree with that), and the Knicks.

And that is the only reason people hate the Yankees...because they are always the winners...but they deserve to be winners...thats like saying you hate Friends because they win the Emmys all the time.

If the Mariners won all the time...everybody would hate them. But its different to be pissed off at a team for winning all the time but still respect them....and then hate them for that.

Ummmm, I wasn't aware that the Mets were in the playoffs this year. Which reminds me, New Yorkers have no idea what it is like for a whole city to get behind their hometown team. Seattle fans know, Cleveland fans know. When the Yankees go to the World Series, more than half the city doesn't care. When Cleveland was in the World Series, there wouldn't be a car on the road while the game was on. Everyone was either at the game or watching it on t.v..

Hey, thats sports for you! Thats how drafts in football and switching teams in baseball are. Most of the players have been Yankees for quite a while.

Half of NYC is for Mets and Half for Yankees, the side for Mets don't care about Yankees.

If I hated the Yankees for winning all the time, then I wouldn't be a fan of Friends because of its popularity. I don't have problems with that, thank you very much.

Clemens and O'Niell are enough to hate the Yankees, but there's so much more: 1) limitless payroll, making the sport of baseball less popular by the season; 2) evil general manager; 3) and a fawning east coast media that infiltrates the west coast like those cockroaches in The Mummy.

I'm tired of the Yankees for some of the same reasons, and I don't care how commendable they are. That's irrelevent to how I feel. I'm just plain sick and tired of the Yankees always being in the world series. Period.

Actually, there are a couple of non-emotional reasons for that. Number one, the Yankees are the baseball equivalent of Donald Trump, and Steinbrenner keeps kicking up such a fuss about revenue sharing, as if the Yankees could earn anything close to their current revenue without opposing teams to play against. Number two, I still remember the deafening yawn from the east coast and the lack of respect for the midwest back in 1985 when the world series was between the KC Royals and the St. Louis Cardinals. We didn't appreciate the air of superiority apparent in the ABC broadcast crew who practically apologized to the TV audience that this year's world series may not be as exciting as most.

Thanks Lewis. I hadn't heard of any massive Mariners changes though..I figured that was a pretty strong core they have, maybe add someone better than Sele to the rotation, but a team that one that much last season doesn't need much more.

The Indians are getting rid of Lofton, Burba and probably Juan Gonzalez. Word is that anyone is available to be traded. Should be an interesting off season

Burba shouldn't be too big a loss (he was the starting pitcher for that game where you guys came back after trailing 14-2, right?), but losing Lofton and Gonzalez will be pretty big.

Well, Buhner (love the guy, but not a huge loss) and Javier (doesn't get much credit, but we'll miss him) are retiring. And the team has 11 free agents, Sele Boone, and McLemore chief among them. Half of our bullpen may not return, only 2 pitchers are for sure to start for the team, and we literallty have no left fielders secured for next season.
