Another mistake?

In eposoide 713-TOW Rosita dies Phoebe gets a job selling toner over the phone and she calls up and asks for the supply manager and the people tell her its Earl. Then when she goes down to the office nobody knows an Earl? Hmmm.........

Well, that is not a mistake. Earl was not appreciated or even known among his colleagues even though he had been working there for several years and that was part of the reason he wanted to kill himself.

I disagree with that. I did understand what the question was. Earl himself claimed that he was working in this meaningless dead-end job for ten years and nobody there even knew he existed...So, in order for the plot to work, nobody was supposed to know who he was once Phoebe went to the office to ask for him. He even started yelling at the other colleagues and nobody was even paying attention to him. Obviously there may have been some people in the department who knew Earl but the whole plot point of the scene was to show a guy who was on the verge of killing himself for various reasons, among which one of them was that he was feeling that his presence in the department was going unnoticed.
