Matthew is Still Ill

This is NOT good. After a week, Matthew Perry is still laid up in the hospital with what his spokespeople said is the flu. You know, this is beginning to worry me a little.

Hellooooo!!! After getting drunk in Vegas, claire abraham doodled cat whiskers on his/her face and miaowed this little lot at a statue...

Well, it can take up to a month to fully recover from the flu, so maybe they're just keeping him in until they're completely sure he's better. Then again, I'm a little worried as well - normally, flu doesn't warrant hospital stays in the first place.

"Matthew Perry's reps were eager to announce that the Friends star was merely suffering from the flu when he was hospitalized last week, lest anyone think that the rehabbed actor had suffered a drug-related relapse.

But a week later, with the actor still in the hospital, his reps are keeping quiet.

According to USA Today columnist Jeannie Williams, Perry's flu has turned into severe stomach pains. Doctors are conducting tests on Perry, but nothing is yet known about this complication or when he might be released from the hospital.

Since he's been laid up, Perry has been missing negotiations between NBC and the stars of Friends to renew their contracts, which expire at the end of the season. Talks are expected to conclude this week.

We're sure the rest of the five friends will represent their absent colleague at the bargaining table."

Yes, exactly. (Not being quite so reassuring, millions of people (more than the total killed in WW1) died of Spanish flu in 1918-19. Head colds and flu-mimic viral infections rarely kill anyone in their 20s or 30s.)

. Lots of people go to the hospital for the pneumonia. Young healthy people too but a week is a while for them. SOmetimes there is pus/infection collection (empyema) at the sac outside the lung and this can definitely warrant a longer stay. If treated well its usually ok. Asthma, cig smoking and more exotic bugs or in immunocompromised people also warrent longer stays.

He's ill because he was on a horrible diet that might have caused damage to his kidneys. He was on a dangerous diet.

Sounds exactly like something I saw on the National Enquirer the other day (Lol no I don't read those things but I was inline at the store & They had MP & JA on it). According to that piece of trash he was on a diet that JA recommended to the cast and all of them were on it & JA blames herself..which I'm sure is news to Matthew & Jennifer.. Please don't believe everything you see in print.

I saw the cover this past weekend and I just felt bad for them both.. Because you can't help getting sick. Plus blaming someone else for it is just wrong and really rude. Plus also if all 6 of them were on that diet then I would think that we would have been hearing about them all being in the hospital. And I would like to add that since there have been alot of posts on this newsgroup about his supposed weight gain, that to me says that he couldn't have been on any "dangerous diet" to begin with. (not that he looks bad, just getting healthier since he was in rehab).

Jennifer Anniston put him on The Zone Diet - and look what it did for her......if you don't take the right amount of supplements with The Zone, you CAN get really sick - no matter how wealthy/smart/whatever you are - seems like anyone dumb enough (no offense intended) to get hooked on pain pills, could certainly be dumb enough to get sick from a radical diet. :)

Oh yeah - and sensible? Remember the pain pills, kiddies......

I didn't mean to upset anyone - I was simply trying to counter the point made by someone else that no matter how much money, "sense" (was the exact word used), and medical supervision you have - you can still be "unsensible" enough to make the wrong choices.

I apologize for my poor choice of words, but just because someone is wealthy and privvy to things the general public is not, does not make them immune to unwise choices.

I feel sad that he felt so compelled to lose so much weight so fast in the first place - and that the trash mags and what not spend so much time obsessing over their weight that they think they need to!

Let me say this in a kinder way. The National Enquirer says that Matthew got sick on a fad diet. That tabloid is a notoriously unreliable source of information, and we don't really know why Matthew is ill. His publicist says he has the flu, and I will accept that answer until we get different information from a reliable source.

I'm with you. NEVER EVER EVER believe ANYTHING the National Enquirer says.

Hey, Claire, don't stress. :)

I've had flu for over 3 weeks, before, and was in the hospital for 8 days (this was 1992 and I was otherwise very healthy).

I hope he's ok, but don't read more into it until we know there's more to read, yeah?
