Does anyone else find it a little wierd that although George Clooney and Noah Wyle appear in series 1 of Friends as doctors (not Doug Ross and John Carter, however), the ER theme tune can be heard in series five when Monica and Chandler go to a hotel. This seems like a really wierd muddle of the paralell and non-paralell universe that Friends seems to exist in.

However, one I noticed last night - since Friends>Mad About You>Seinfeld neatly, then NewsRadio is also in the same universe. Which series of ER did Maura Tierney first appear in, and was it the one Monica and Chandler were watching??

We don't know. We heard what we in our universe call the "ER" theme tune in 505 "TOW the Kips" (and both shows are on the same season number) but for Monica & Chandler the music could have been another TV show, or not even a theme tune at all - or the first or the 21st season of "ER"...

Ursula is in the Friends and Mad about you universe, Seinfeld's Jerry ( or maybe Kramer ) rented the apartment from Mad about you's Paul.
Are you sure?Newsradio's Bill and Lisa interviewed him in one episode. Seinfeld wasn't playing his tv character , but his real life self.

So that link is indisputable.
Ok (although I'm pretty sure there's another link with NR, I'm just trying to remember how I got to that conclusion), BUT: In last night's MAY (s5) Paul Buchman was aided (hindered) by Bruce Willis, as himself. So how does that fit with him being in Friends?

Bruce Willis is not the same person as Paul Stephens.
Bruce Willis himself has never been mentioned on "Friends", and even if had been, or maybe appeared as himself, that would not constitute a link with MAY since being a celebrity he is a part of the setting, like NYC.

The biggest crossover must be Bruce Willis/Die Hard. We all know that the guys love Die Hard, but Rachel dates Bruce Willis

okay, I am new to this, so I might have totally missed something here, and I also dont really watch Mad about You or the other shows that were mentioned, but wasnt the crossover disputed over like 7 posts in the one where Rachel and Marcel go to the ER? I know the blonde lady is from Mad about you and the brunette could be from Seinfeld and then of course Noah Wiley and ummm. . .George clooney. I dont know, if I am totally wrong or missed someone saying it, I am sorry, this is like my second post here. :-)

It's actually because all the shows are made by Warner Bros.
The sets are across the lot from each other, you can walk from the diner in Chicago to Central Perk in New York in less than five minutes!
I guess the musicjust sort of drifted in through an open door while they were filming series 5 :-)
