Ben's Age?

Ben was born at the end of Season 1 so he shouldn't even be five yet, right? So how is he six? Is this really Season 7 we're watching and everyone just fell into a year-long coma.

In 621 "TOW Ross meets Elizabeth's Dad", Ross was clearly under a great deal of stress from Paul's threatening attitude and his own guilt from defying NYU regulations by dating a student. In fact, Ross virtually reverts to being "Mental Geller", the unstable character expelled from the museum.

(BTW, fans keep calling this person "Red Ross". This is most incorrect - that aspect of his character is a violent thug who assaults people outside cinemas and inflicts grievous bodily harm in amateur ball games in the park.)

Mental Geller is caught in a huge gaffe where he seems to desire Elizabeth because he thinks of her as a pre-pubescent virgin, and so the poor fellow is desperately trying to appear sane & mature. He blurts out that Ben is six and claims that he has joint custody of the boy with his ex-wife, which we know is not true. The reliability of what Ross says is further undermined by his reference to Paul's wife, totally forgetting that the woman is dead.

In this scene we must treat *everything* Ross says with caution.

My younger brother was born in July of 1994, and isn't six yet. Ben was born months after, so he shouldn't be six yet, either, right? I guess it is just another one of those inconsistencys

I think that Ben grows up faster than we think : in episode 508 (TOW Ross's Teeth), Ross says he's got a 5 year old son, and now he's six ? maybe his birthday was during this period ?

I think Ben is six. Ross said so actually in 621. also if he had him in the late first season....and now we're in the sixth....that should actually mean he's almost 5...but who knows!? ~Sara~ "Hey, look at me! Bearing in mind that the main characters seem to age slower than normal, and Ben ages faster, how long will it be before he's older than Ross? :)

How do we know that they age slower than normal? I mean, to us its been 6 years, but how do we know that on the show 1 season equals 1 year on the show? We only see like 24 episodes, we dont know what the time span is supposed to be between each one, it could be a day, it could be a month... -Kat

It only aired at this time because they couldn't air it closer to New Years or Christmas. Plus you can say that thanksgiving is always a week early? or late? I forget. So then its at the same rate. Plus, even in some other shows when they take the summer off they show what happened during the summer. But then there were shows like BH90210 that ran through the summer SOMETIMES..

Maybe he rounded ben's age up..

Please people, it's a comedy! Who cares? It's not the first incohenrence in that show! Stop asking you so much questions and just enjoy. Life is too short to bother ourself about such tiny details
