**************** In 8-15, Phoebe refers to two friends of hers--one who has the world's happiest dog, the other who is featured in the "Candy and Cookie" birthing video. It occurs to me that of all in the main six, Phoebe has the most *other* friends. I suppose she may be off doing things with them while having only minor parts in the other story lines. As we know, Phoebe hasn't had a major story line of her own for a while. I started to think of some other references to Phoebe's friends, and also tried to think of such references for the other main cast members.
In season three, there was, of course, Bonnie, the once-bald and bald-again friend Phoebe fixed up with Ross.
In season four, we met some of Ross's museum friends at his bachelor's party, but we've got no (explicit) indication they've stayed in since Ross left that job. He's interacted with professors from NYU, but doesn't seem to have befriended any (beyond the date Ross almost had from the linguistics prof in 7.11).
We've seen Monica, Joey, Chandler, and Rachel interact with coworkers, but not socially, except for Chandler and Monica's uncomfortable outings with Chandler's boss. Monica and Chandler's false start with Greg and Jenny after their honeymoon seems to be the closest they've come this season. And isn't it curious that Phoebe had such a strong, jealous reaction to the prospect of Monica and Chandler branching out?
Well, I'm rambling, but does anyone think it's significant that Phoebe seems to have the most interaction with other friends? Can anybody think of other references to Phoebe's assorted friends? And how about friends the others seem to have (had)?
