Why It Will End R&R

This show will be in re-runs forever. I think the writers will make it R&R because otherwise when people watch all of these re-runs of R&R episodes it will seem depressing and pointless if they didn't end up together in the end. Of course, the guy didn't end up with the girl (Diane) in Cheers, but that was because she left the show.

I think you're right too. It would probably be better if they end up together because Joey's not really boyfriend material. O.K Rachel is hit "first love" but I think he'll accept the truth. It was Ross' ring and Rachel just said "O.K" because she was sad and desparerate. Plus, R&R both don't know eachother feelings. Well, I hope it will end up like this...

It simply *has to* finish that way. Otherwise, the writers will simply have millions of fans beeing disappointed ( and I don't think they really will the show to end that way ).

I dated a guy after having a crush on him for years. We broke up about a year later. does that make my life depressing and pointless? we just found out (after dating for all of that time) that we didn't mesh well. I am sorry, but I don't think that R&R mesh well. They just bring out bad qualities in each other. I would be disappointed if they did get together in the end because I don't think that they will ever be able to make their relationship last. If they ended the show together, I would just expect them to break up later in life, and make each other miserable.

However much wackiness ensues along the way, they generally go for story arcs with (what most people see as) happy endings. I agree with everything you said about R&R but if I had to put money it on it, I'd bet that the writers will end R&R together for reasons having to do with the Unwritten Rules of Television Sitcoms. Plus, they had to make up all kinds of artificial reasons to keep R&R apart to open the door for lots of different storylines and humor possibilities. It's primarily a comedy, not a drama, so all the plot machinations are to serve the comedy.
