I can't see Ross & Rachel anymore -- they've been through too much, it's run its course. I can't see her with Joey either though. I agree with whoever posted that it's not necessary for them to all be paired up with each other, and I just think Rachel would be better suited with one of her non-FRIENDS.

I think that is a good idea for Joey and Phoebe, because they are different, they are not so concerned with marriage, they share just atraction, and they are more free people about the love issue, in deed.

But Rachel and Ross must be toguether, is the power of love.

I neither approach this with dewey romanticism nor tired-of-it cynicism. I see R&R together before/by the end of the series. At the risk of too much repetition on my part, R&J are a great *story*. I've been enjoying it since the "fake date" and "...Terrified". They even set up the change with an even closer-than-usual friendship together as roomies. The ep before even had pregnant and horny Rachel contemplating 'doin' it'; nice set-up. Okay, the most recent one is just alittle forced, but probably necesary to put ultimate closure to the triangle.

But, in the sense of telling a by-now epic story that is the series, it feels like R&R is the right conclusion. Granted, they both indulge in epic denial (even more about being a non-couple than Sam & Dianne about being a couple), and there are sticking points in their entwined personalities, but that's just to spread the non-relationship throughout much of a TV series. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----------------

That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Why would he be content to live across the hall from his wife? He was working in Tulsa and living in a hotel. Plus, the characters are only in their early 30's, so a "midlife crisis" isn't plausible. ~~~ Kathy
