I want to ask you a question, and I'm asking this to be sincere so I expect an answer in return.
What's your beef about Friends? Why do you hate it so much, and why must you insist on violating newsgroup etiquette by spoiling the season finale for everyone? Obviously you read the spoiler, and obviously you posted your message as a joke, but was it really worth it?
I'm just asking. But I would appreciate a serious response. After all, I have read some of your posts, and figured that you were intelligent enough a person who had exceptional opinions on certain subjects. The group in here is upset, and rightfully so. I'm hoping that you could be a sport about this and resolve the problem you caused and hopefully will turn these readers into good sports too. So what do you say?
Based on the fact that Scally refused to answer any of my questions regarding his behavior proves to me that he has no morals and no consideration for others concerning his actions. What a shame!!

Ok, what do you have against me? For your information, the episodes don't air at the same in the US and the UK, and some Brits just don't want to know beforehand what's going to happen. So, Act and I post warnings so they don't read spoilers if they don't want to. Big deal? And I'm not saying no one should read spoilers, I'm just helping those who don't wish to. Geddit? And all that fuss about a sixth season quote being in somebody's sig... I respect the conventions about shielding the UK from SPOILERS, but you can take it too far. Scally has a point. He's being kind of rude in the way he expresses it, but I understand one of the reasons why he's here.
I doubt turning him into his ISP will do anything. Disobeying nettiquette just isn't that big a deal. Scally is an Internet veteran active on several newgroups and he knows exactly what he can and cannot get away with. Now, if he were to start mailbombing us, there might be a case, but I doubt he'll do that. His point is by definition public; he feels anybody should be able to post as they choose in a public, unmoderated forum and he resists efforts to impinge on that right. That's why he's picking on you; you've been the one most interested in actually controlling his behavior.
Don't feel bad. He's advertising one of *my* posts critical to him as part of his sig! I'm notorious across the Internet now!
Sigh. Well, most of this will be all over tomorrow night. You know, I don't think this newsgroup ever gets out of a season finale without having spoilers blasted left and right. Everybody should kind of be aware of this and use common sense.
I couldn't agree more, Claire. Chris Bastian's Broadcast Schedule has been the best thing since sliced bread (IMO). Fer cryin-out-loud, if people are so afraid of reading a spoiler, then they shouldn't be here at all. Like I said in an earlier post, it's only a matter of time before the entire world is "online" and syndication rights are present in every country. Then we'll have the entire spectrum of broadcast schedules. Some will be current, and some will be just starting, with "Season 1" of whatever sitcom we're referring to at the time.
I suspect this whole "spoiler police" fad will die. As it is now, I skip over any heading that has the word "spoiler" in it - be it the spoiler itself, or a warning about headings that have spoilers in them. It's so simple to NOT read the post. In fact it's easier.
Yes, but some people forget to put the word "spoiler" in their headings even if they give some, and that's why Act, Kasya, Ariel, (Sesame), and I post spoiler warnings so you don't read by mistake a post that contains spoilers you do not wish to read.

Oh but Claire, we have just started this so of course are seeing where the boundries are. I do understand what you mean by going to far. But I really do think that sometimes the episode names can be spoilerish especailly for the UK who haven't seen a certain episode..Only if there is an episode name that is spoilerish will I post the warning of course. Yes I thought about the sig, and said it doesnt matter, and done the same with Bruce Willis. Now I am learning the boundries.. But I have picked out some spoilers that were major before Scally came along.
