Joey (spinoff) question

I heard JOey will be changed somewhat from the pilot eppy that was circulating on the Net. My question is if they have shot another version and circulating that, too. LOL

It's the original version though. I doubt they will "leak" anymore versions since the novelty of the pilot would be gone and nobody (or at least less people) would watch it on TV.

Did you know that this is not Matt's first spin-off? He also had a spin-off sitcom from "Married with Children" called "Top of the Heap" which was later renamed to "Vinnie & Bobby".

How did Vinnie and Bobby do? Matt must have good connections or be judged to have more appeal than others if he got more than one spinoff. LOL

Well I don't know about his connections, but I do know that both series weren't a raving success. After a season they tried renaming the series and change it a little but that didn't last either. Both series only lasted a year.

That's one of the reasons I don't believe Joey will last. Matt has already proven that he can't carry a sitcom. He is a terrific sidekick but not a leading man.

The character Joey has already been defined so there is no slack there. They can't, for instance, come up with an ex wife because everybody knows that Joey hasn't been married, that binds the hands of the writers. That's also the biggest difference with Frasier. Joey character has been dug up by now.

Seeing the pilot doesn't make me believe that this series has all that much potential. Let's face it; which character is all that interesting that they could write twenty-four episodes about? I think they were better of just using the sister angle and leave Joey out if it. Two or more sisters living in L.A. having the time of their live has much more prospective. Let Joey (and the other Friends members) introduce the sister(s) and then fade him/them out.

All in all I give Joey a year or two at the most.

That's too bad about Joey being a one-joke character and sitcom. I would've watched Joey to remember Friends by as long as it remained moderately funny.
