Monica's Parents

Hi! Everybody. Does anyone else seem to notice that it is more Monica's mom that is mean to her and not so much her dad. I mean in the eposoide where Monica and Richard told her parents that they were an item her dad took it pretty well and her mom freaked out. Also after her and Richard broke up her dad came to make sure she was ok. Then when her dad ruined her stuff he gave her the porsche and at their anniversary party her mother seemed so upset that Ross wasn't giving the toast and Monica was. Her dad didn't know what dog she was talking about and that why he didn't show any emotion.

I agree that her mother seems to be malicious, while her father occasionally hurts her feelings out of stupidity--not that he is a stupid man, but he says stupid things followed by "I'm just saying."

i'm confused.. sorry but what is your point?? she has never (to my knowledge - i could be wrong) complaned about her Dad's feelings towards her. She has mentioned on several occasions about the way her Mother acts towards her.

Just wondering what you are getting at.

Also on a few occasions, Monica's father has let her down very badly financially, but she was rescued by Ross, then Phoebe, then Chandler.

I can't speak for Catriona, but from my pov, a lot gets said about Monica's mother putting Monica down. Her mother is too caught up in how others might view their family. Her father, otoh, doesn't intentionally or maliciously undermine her. He obviously demonstrates that he loves her, but he isn't able to support her life choices.
