Season Six: It's not multiregion!

I just got it from Amazon and it's not R1, R2, R3, R4 like the other seasons, but only R1, R4. So it won't work on a R2 player (like European DVDs) and it's necessary a region free one. Since it's dual coded R1 & R4, it is not necessary to have a region free DVD player if you do have a R4 DVD player (e.g. Australia & New Zeland are R4).

Here it's possible to look for region code hacks for DVD players. If you are lucky your DVD player's hack might be just pressing some buttons with its remote. If you change the region of your DVD player to "region free", the warranty might not be valid anymore. Some hacks are reversible.

E.G.

Philips 634

open the cd tray press "1111" and then "0" for all regions

And with 1111,2 it would be back to region 2.

Just make sure when that your DVD-Player doesn't freeze to a region code after a while. Some players allow that you change the region code, but only a couple of times.

I ruined mine 2 years ago while switching back and forth from R2 to R1. I now have a fully working Grundig R1 DVD-Player - great here in Europe ;-)

Yes, that happened with DVDs that allow a few region changes. I've not heard this problems with "modern" DVD players. They have their hack, or they haven't, but the hack is somewhat final. In order to hack some players you need to hack them phisically, with a chip. But lots of players can be hacked just with their remote. One time, region free, and that's it.

That's pretty useful. I have a region free DVD player, a Philips, and that allows me to play any kind of DVD. I have some Australian DVDs, some European, lots of American, and some R3 DVDs from Hong Kong. :)
