I really enjoyed watching the executive producers commentary on disks 2 and 3 or the 4 disk set of season 2. Even though the shows they are commenting on are season 2 episodes, they obviously recorded the commentary while shooting the finale for season 8. Several of their comments talk about how things have developed *since* season 2.

In fact, I found several of their comments revealing and relevant to several of *our* topics here in the newsgroup. I would highly recommend the set to any true "Friends" fans, or even to those who might be interested in a little more perspective from Bright, Kaufman and Crane.

(Of course, you also get the full season 2 set of expanded episodes.)

I agree. David, Marta and Kevin have very intelligent and appealing voices that are made for audio commentaries. Wished they did more episodes. And on the season 3 DVDs, I hope they commentate on at least "TOW No One Is Ready" and "TO The Morning After". Some interesting things they said:

1) Marta on Jennifer's speech to Ross about why the list hurt her [paraphrasing]: "It's soooo real! I wonder if we can include something that real now?"

2) They were all aware of the "backlash" during season 3, and felt that it affected their work that season.

3) They love writing R&R argument scenes--a whole lot more than R&R nice scenes.

4) Then, they didn't really know what the show is and should be about. Now, they seem to know.

5) They couldn't say "penis" on the air during seasons 3&4, as well as 6&7. Otherwise, they could. No reason why.

Marta said something I didn't completely agree with, although I assume most viewers saw it her way. Marta said that it seemed perfectly reasonable for Ross to make a pros/cons list about Rachel and Julie. I agree with that part. Yes, they didn't understand why the sensors took that approach, nor why the ban was lifted later.

They seemed quite pleased to have been able to get a dirty joke past the sensors. The joke came up from the gaudy bracelet that Joey bought for Chandler. Joey asks, "Do you have any idea what this'll do for your sex life?" Chandler responds, "Well, it'll probably slow it down at first but, once I get used to the extra weight, I'll be back on track."

A few that come to mind.

1. When Rachel says to Ross in the windkeeper show..."How do you expect me to grow, if you won't let me blow?" And of course Ross stammers something like..."You know I don't have a, a, a, problem with that."

2. When Monica is drawing out a woman's erogenous zones to help Chandler with Kathy, Chandler doesn't recognize the most important one, because "it's upside down." And Rachel says something like..."Sometimes that's the best way."

3. Somewhat more open to interpretation would be all the encouraging by Monica to "Be there for her." when Joey is abstaining from sexual intercourse with his girlfriend in order to properly conclude his semen donor experiment.

The only anal sex kind of joke I remember was when Joey was trying to sell the entertainment center, stupidly got locked in it by someone he was trying to sell it to, the apartment gets robbed by that person, Chandler comes home, and Joey says something like..."You know what I'm going to do when I find the guy that did this?" Chandler then retorts "Bend over?!"

And I thought the end of season 4 was just fine. Not nearly as overwrought as the typical Ross-Rachel tiff. The series finale was okay, but that whole episode was wacky to begin with, intentionally so I suspect.

I can imagine being upset over the whole list issue, but I thought she over-reacted. Maybe it's a guy thing... and that most women would be more offended by it than guys would be.

More specifically, Marta said *she* loved writing the argument scenes for R&R, and was bored when she wrote their "happy" scenes. David didn't say anything in response. Presumebly, he agrees.

I was originally startled by the fact that you already got yours, while mine has been on pre-order (and now order) for quite some time now, but then I looked at my order at Amazon, and I paired it with my First season Babylon 5 DVD which is not due out until November in order to get free shipping, hence alas I must wait ;-) I had sort of assumed it wasn't out yet, and was beginning to wonder which relative of yours works for Warner Brothers, but now I see that it has indeed been released, and the person I should be blaming is that face in the mirror ;-)

Are you saying they *won't* split the order? Or is that because you selected that option to reduce shipping and handling charges?

Btw, I ordered mine directly from WB. It cost me more than some of the discount places, but I knew I'd get it right away. Plus I got volume 2 of the "Best of Friends" DVD as a free bonus. Of course, I already have the 4 disk set. . . . Oh well, that's life.

The Complete Second Season Friends Set is Region Free aka Region 0 not Region 1 as stated in the subject. A lot of vendors have this misconception and list the title as Region 1 assuming that if its from US/Canada it must be region 1. This is not always the case.

Take a look at your Season Two set and you'll realise it can play on and DVD player regardless of region settings.
