SEAN PENN will play the boyfriend of PHOEBE's twin-sister URSULA in the eighth and final series of FRIENDS.
But the actor's decision to guest star on the hit TV show will surprise many in Hollywood - Penn is a fierce critic of mainstream Hollywood, and refuses to attend the Oscar ceremony - even on the two occasions he has been nominated for awards.
The CARLITO'S WAY star is the latest in a long line of Hollywood stars to have appeared in the show. BRUCE WILLIS, REESE WITHERSPOON, BROOKE SHIELDS and JEAN-CLAUDE VAN DAMME have all made guest appearances since the show first aired in 1994.
