Did anyone else think Chandler and Phoebe had way too easy a time getting that ring from the guy in the restaurant? I mean, he picked it out. I can't imagine he'd give it up that easily. I thought there was going to be some crazy hijink in the restuarant where they try to sneak it away from him, or something like where the woman he was proposing to said no so he didn't need it. Just them walking in and asking (granted, Phoebe did say she was Chandler's dying fiance, but still) seemed way too easy.

I think it was too simple as well. In fact, I'm surprised he parted with it. I don't think I would have. Imagine, we're all living in the Friends world here, so it seems perfectly natural that Chandler would get the ring back. But, what if we were living in "Guy at the Restaurant" world. Then, it wouldn't make sense. Here's something else. At a real snooty ring place (I'm not sure how upper class it was, actually), if you asked the guy at the shop to hold the ring, wouldn't he have put it in the back room or something? I know he doesn't have to, but he knew Chandler was coming back as Pheobe stayed there.

But, the restaurant scene did provide one of the best lines in the episode, though, AFAIC. I mean, when Chandler tells the other girl she's getting a great husband, it was priceless...

when I was watching it, both my father and I thought that when Chandler showed the ring to Joey, Ross and Rachel, it would be the wrong one.

yeah I also thought that it would be the wrong ring because Chandler didn't check to make sure when he first got it.

my mom made the same comment when she saw it. She also said why does a guy who has enough money to spend 8 thousand dollars on a ring live in an apartment...

It did seem a little easy, but what if he really liked the other ring better after all, plus he had sympathy for Chandler's so called dying wife..

He could have been a compasionate guy.
