question: the connection between Season 2 and 3...

I can't understand why Monica broke up with Richard...it doesn't mention why....doesn't anyone know why??

we didn't see him last season but in last year's finale he was mentioned. Monica saw him at lunch and said she had no feelings for him.

No, she did run into him at a video store and they had a brief fling, or as Ross called it, "Naked Friends".. :) They broke up for good in the same episode after I believe they had a little goodbye sex.

1) Noep, he was in season 3 in TOW Monica and Richard are Friends (that could be a made up title)

2) The way you put it suggests she was thinking about him when they broke up. I think it was more about her kids having a father that really wanted them.

Nah, j/k, but you already know the reason thanks to the other postings.

Btw.. Tom was quite nicely written out of the series back then. This in contrast to most other guest players who suddenly, out of the blue, develop an unforseen bad personality in the last episode they play. For example the cop that Phoebe dated in series 5; He was a very nice guy, until the last day where he shot a bird out of a tree. Something that totally didn't match his personality as sketched in the previous episodes. Or in series 6,

where Elizabeth, who seemed rather mature, suddenly turned into a childish schoolgirl in the waterballoon fight at school camp. That's a rather cheap way to write someone out of the series IMHO; it shouldn't be too much of an effort to 'ditch' them more credibly no?
