my idea for season 9

possible spoilers for season 8

of course we don't know which direction the show's gonna take next year so i thought i'd speculate on what i would do if i was in charge.

the joey/ross/rachel thing was good for a few episodes but i think that storyline dominated season 8 and should be wrapped up, at least for the most part, by the season 8 finale. it would be too redundant to stretch it out another year.

so i would have season 9 jump ahead five years...we'd get to see what the characters lives were like 5 years from now and how they are dealing with new developments.

i, personally, would have monica and chandler with quite a few children and watch their marriage being tested by the trials of parenthood.

i'd have joey finally have gotten his big break but realize that the life of stardom doesn't fit in neatly with days at the coffee house - will he give up his dream role for his friends?

i'd have rachel and ross in a serious relationship, but not engaged/married.

i don't know what i'd do with pheobe, but i wonder what things would be like if she came to face with a really serious storyline, for ex. an illness - i loved seeing her with the more serious, emotional storylines like when she had the triplets.

just my two cents..and p.s. if marta and david are reading this...you have to ask permission before you take my ideas!! :)

Well, the potential for lawsuits resulting from fans thinking that Marta & David stole their ideas from newsgroup posts is exactly the reason they *don't* read here...

They don't have that much time, methinks. Maybe they, or some of the writers, read some fanfics for inspiration, but they would never confess that due to the extensive sueing practice in the USA.

You can't build a whole season upon it -- Friends isn't a scifi sitcom -- but it's fair enough for one -- maybe 1 hour -- episode near the end of the show. We already had some flashbacks and TOT Could Have Been.
