I caught this on Inside Edition--apparently the jeweler who promised Jen & Brad that their choice rings was unique has been selling several copies. Jen & Brad did have the "uniqueness" clause in writing, so they will be suing for $50 Million.

I thought the amount of money being demanded was absolutely ridiculous when I first heard about it. Then I thought about it. Consider how much Hollywood stars are likely to spend on their weddings - and then consider how much goes on the wedding rings and outfits. If you'd had someone make up these rings especially, got it in writing that they would *not* reproduce those rings, and then found that not only had they broken the agreement but were selling them on the net, using your name in order to sell them, I'd imagine you'd be pretty pissed too. I doubt they'll get that much in damages, far from it, but I'm willing to bet that the amount the company have made from cashing in on their (might I add copyrighted) design and names is probably far more.

It's not just some poor jewellery guy who made some money off from them. It's Damiani, one of hte most well known jewelery companies in the world. They were founded in 1924. So Brad and Jen isn't exactly suing some poor guy. They are suing a bigcompoany. And since doing that you need to sue for some real money.

You make a good point it was fraud and brad designed the rings so they have every right to sue him. Plus i hardly think that jen and brad would use a 'poor' jeweler to make their wedding rings!!!
