ATF Awards 2001!!!!!!

Ladies, Gentlemen, horses and cucumbers, we present to you,

The A.T.F Awards 2001!

Yes that's right, it's the moment you've all been waiting for. Britney Spears is polishing up her bellyring and there are a team of monkeys chained to typewriters coming up with puns for the presenters as the awards get underway! (Seran, put that gun away, Britney's not here yet.)

However before we can give them out, people actually have to be NOMINATED. The rules are simple: Pick someone for each category and email your choices to [email] - you can nominate anyone except yourself. Sorry, but that's just narcissistic.

Categories are below and everything has to be in by the 22nd January 2002. When you've voted it's time to steam that ballgown (you look gorgeous, Tennant) and, Owen, get your makeup artist on the phone. Everyone's invited (except Tara Palmer-Tompkinson, quit coming to these award things, what are you even famous for?)

Nominees will be announced on the 26th January, and then we'll do the whole voting thing again. Good luck everybody!

I don't know much about this tradition, but am I the only person who doesn't really get this ATF awards thing? I mean no offense but it sounds like it's just sucking up to people and only includes a few people while hundreds read and occasionally post. I mean I guess it's fun and everything and that's good for those who participate but I just felt like bringing it up since that kind of bugged me last year.

The key is to take it with a large pinch of humor. The best "award ceremonies" and "acceptance speeches" have been written with a lot of humor. One time when I "won" something I pretended to fall off the stage into the orchestra pit. You can't take this seriously.

I guess folks who think this is cliquish can choose to delete the threads that come out of it. It is not meant to hurt people's feelings.

So is there going to be an awards ceremony? Is it going to be live, in which case we say at what time to be online and we just start accepting awards as soon as they post the winners?

How it is done this time is ultimately up to Seran. In the past, the people who MC'd the event simply started a new thread - ATF Awards - and posted the results with humorous commentary just as they would any other topic. A Chat would make it much more difficult for "winners" to participate because not everybody can be available all at the same time. This is especially dicey in a forum which has such a broad range of different nations and time zones taking part.

Not just up to me, Both Mari and myself are conductiong this. We're scared... well I am, dunno about Mari.
