Do they have friends dvd's in the us? I t would be great if they did as I know how to play them on our pal system.

I think they have only come out here in Europe region 2. You can import then from a UK company across the net. Try a company called DVD Streets Online. I don't think any of the friends stuff has been released in the US on VHS or any format, though I am in Europe and everything is been here!! :-) Seasons 1-3 are due out in the UK on the 29th May.
